Well, as you may have read before, I am Alexander N. van Kuik (born Nikos Alexandros Arvanitis), son of a greek architect, Ioannis Arvanitis, and a dutch musician (singer, musicologist), Ariadne P. Westerkamp. I was born in August 27 1988 in Berlin, Germany.
From a very small age I had a fascination with art. I was grown up in a home were almost every day, all day, someone played music. I started learning violin since I was five years old (never got really far, though) and I started drawing at an even younger age.
At an age of 11 I moved with my family to Athens. My artistic skills here where honed even more, and, at an age of 12 or 13, I also started writing poems. In high school I started listening to several metal bands, and decided with some friends to make our own "Epic Metal" band, "Overawe"... Anyway, although the resulting sound was anything but pleasing, and the following split-up led the members to communicate in but the rarest of incidences, the experiences I gathered therein (my poetry skills, for example, and how exactly I should NOT write a song) proved quite useful when I started my second band, "Tracing Dawn", this time in a goth rock style. By that time I really wasn't to happy about myself nor the world around me (in short, I was quite convinced I was a member of the "goth" movement), but still that time was like catharsis, even though the band had, and has, little success. Tracing Dawn are still active, but our style has changed to a more atmospheric darkwave-like style (doesn't sound to convincing, does it?). Anyway, when I went to Holland in summer of the year 2006 I started searching for some new bands to listen to, and ideologies to study (I was a christian orthodox until 2004, but I was always interested in different religions, philosophies etc.). So two things happened: I discovered music styles I never listened to before, which deeply touched me, like folk, dreampop and new age, and second, I discovered Wicca. I don't want to preach about it, and I'm no real Wiccan just yet, but the thing is that those things *clicked* on me somehow. Both made me see the world with a new light. So I started everything anew. I started writing new poems and music, and my drawings and paintings also changed. Of course I changed my outlook, more than my style... Anyway. After returning I decided to start composing music as a solo artist, at the same time with my band and in November 12 2006 I got my first Demo, "Esther", ready, which is available for download on this site.
I'm still on High School. But I'm planning on moving to the Netherlands to study on an art academy there.
