There is a movie about him featuring Jon Voight that just came out on DVD, and no matter what religion you may be, this movie is amazing and the Pope was an inspiring man. There are websites where you can watch clips from the movie. My coworker at UMGD and myself went to johnpaul2movie.com, but there are others. This movie is worth watching.

still haten' the sin but loven' the sinner

Does the movie go into how he turned a blind eye to the rape of alter boys than promoted the person who lead the cover up?

it's a shame, leaving aside the churches hypercritical stand on homosexuality for a moment.
that pope did do a lot of good too. but just as Nixon doesn't get credit for opening trade with china this pope should be remembered for nothing else than pedophile priests.

A holy man is someone who is dedicated or devoted to the service of God, the church, or religion.

How can that be considered arrogant?

The arrogance comes from purporting to men of the God of the Bible and yet they don't follow the Bible. They observe the sabbath on Sunday and biblically it is the seventh day (Saturday) that is to be kept (4th commandment). They surround themselves with idols which is against the second commandment. They do not follow the God, religion, or church that the God of the Bible commands and they lead others away in their lies. They are the offspring of Simon Magus and not Jesus.

mud, the arrogance in question was that a man considered themselves holy.
Your comments are unrelated but are an open attack on Roman Catholicism and I am not about to defend your unnecessary attack, instead I shall just turn the other cheek.

John Paul II, as the leader of the catholic church makes both he and the church relavent to this discussion, no? In the case of religion you can't seperate one from the other.

Because aside from being DEVOTED, he now believes whatever he says related to religion is FACT. How can you believe that without being abundance in confidence of your own ability to be religiously connected and correct.

    mind your own bleepin' business...PLEASE!!

now he is not content to run his own religion he wants to rule the world ex. pushing the italian parlement around on the issue of civil unions threatening excommunication for MPS who won't toe the Vatican line. not allowing John Kerry to receive communion while he ran for president
thus trying to influence our election. repeteadly
stating his opinion on civil unions( as opposed to marriage) a topic he has no standing on.
