A Nice holiday for Christians and those raised Christians. But I dont think that it should be pushed onto everyone.

Don't get angry with me big guy. Being as carnally minded as I am, I would love to observe it. I did observe it in the past. Had some good memories. But then I saw where God said don't do it. You can do it. I can't say it doesn't matter to me. But it is not out of hate or anger. Probably frustration more than anything else. But God promises that ALL will have their opportunity at the proper time. As the saying goes; God said it, I believe it, end of story.

why would i get angry? i could care less if you practiced Ramadon.

I agree, though plenty of non-Christians join the the fun. This could be about a sort of passive peer pressure and a desire to fit in and enjoy what everyone else is so ecstatic about. But it's also for the same reason that many Christians don't solemnly think about Jesus all day. Christmas has become a season of giving and cheer and family and forgiveness and wacky traditions. Everyone loves that, and I like to think that Jesus doesn't care so much that people aren't devoutly focusing on Him all day (and season!) because His day brings about so much of what He taught us anyway.
-
It is not Christian, it is pagan, and God hates it.
-
-
I forgot that you and God talk all the time. And I forgot that God hates celebrations of family and love which are based off of His Son, even if the date and certain customs were stolen from pagan holidays to make the transitions of faiths easier.

When Moses went up to the mountain for forty days (Exodus), the people, not knowing what was going on, decided to make an idol of gold to worship as God. It was their interpretation of what God looked like. When Moses returned, their excuse was that this idol only "pointed" towards God, but God saw it as flase worship and wanted to destroy them all. Go into a catholic church and ask if the depictions of Jesus and Mary aren't idols and they will tell you the same thing. They only point to God. God has specifically laid out in His word how He is to be worshipped, anything else is false worship and therefore unacceptable.

It's a sign of respect. If you're in the movies and your friend asks for something to spit his gum into, do you casually pull out a family photo, or dig around a little more for an old receipt? If you picked the latter, is it because that picture IS your family? Or because it represents your family and you love and respect them.
If you're on the road or stuck at work and you look at a picture of you and oyur special someone for a few moments, with a relaxing smile on your face recalling the good times you have and the joy s/he brings you--is that picture the one you love? Would you just as easily marry that picture someday? Or is it a represntation and reminder of the one you love?
If you're cleaning out your attic and someone wants to throw away a bunch of junk, but one of those things is a busted toy that was your absolute favorite as a child, you may stop them. You likely won't play with it again, but you just can't bring yourself to chuck it for sentimental reasons. Is that toy your childhood? If you threw it away would you forget all of it? Of course not, it's just a nice reminder.
How is having a statue of Jesus or Mary, or genuflecting out of respect as you pass a cross, any different that going to House of God in order to pray? You don't HAVE to. You can pray whenever you want. You could just as easily use that space to sell goods and gamble. But it's disrpespectful because that represents God's place, even though all is God's place. That place isn't ACTUALLY God, and He doesn't live there anymore than He lives anywhere else. It's just a sign of respect and a way for people to come together and celebrate a like faith. -

The PlainTruth About Christmas

I don't care, I know all about the origins of Christmas. That has nothing to do with by debasing your claim that respecting statues and symbols is idolotry, and nothing to do with what Christmas is about NOW.

-
alot of christians use xmas
-
It is so commertialized (sos about spelling). It also has nothing to do with the day Jesus was born as it was originally a pagan festival. Most people don't celebrate it as the birth of Jesus. So what is the point of christmas. I'm not religious and I love crimbo but its going a bit OTT.
-
People continue to always label things. Each person should celebrate however they feel right in their heart and no one should pressure someone into a holiday that is against their belief.
On the side note :
Happy Holidays Everyone

So you stand around at Christmas time with your arms folded with an unwillingness to join into festivities? Seems like something a Pharisee would do, not Jesus. Jesus hung out with prostitutes. He broke the Sabbath. He didn't make strict regulations and policy on the nature of Christmas. It is what YOU do that matters. YOU can avoid believing in Santa Claus and using paganic symbols and whatever else YOU could possibly see wrong with Christmas, but YOU can still engage in goodly things seperate from the bad and binding. There is nothing wrong with a singular act just because it can be accompanied with a bad one. Just because you may find santa hats as idolatry does not make Christmas bad. It makes santa hats bad, so just don't wear them if you must. And likewise, if Christmas' roots are bad, then simply turn your eye away from such reasoning for celebration. YOU can celebrate in your own fashion for your own reasons. I would still feast with a jew or muslim if invited to even if they were celebrating some offbeat custom. I just wouldn't worhsip Allah or whatever. But I would still sit at their table and eat their food, dine with them and laugh with them.
Is coming to this site bad because you are exposed to false doctrine? Nope. It's only bad if you align yourself with the false doctrine. Get some balls about ya. Steering clear of this site because of false doctrine would only be an issue of one's personal walk, not a canon prescription.
Your hatred of Christmas is truly heretic and is an example of a Pharisee like attitude. I ask you to re-think such an attitude, for you are taking this way too far. I will pray for you brother, and I hope a bit of freedom comes your way. -
People have always had a problem with doing things God's way. They want to do whatever they think is right in their own eyes. Time is too short to be running away from it.
Isa 30:8 Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come forever and ever:
Isa 30:9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:
Isa 30:10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:
Isa 30:11 Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.
Isa 30:12 Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon:
Isa 30:13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant. -
now read from the New Testament, mudgod, and find me the appropriate oppression needed

I think I can find something, How about this?
Mar 7:7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Mar 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
Mar 7:9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. (Jesus).
Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Luk 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
Luk 17:27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. (as it was, so shall it be. Very soon).
Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoreth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
Mat 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Tit 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
1Jo 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
As I said. It is all about doing what God wants us to do and NOT doing what we think is right in our own minds.

Christmas....what can I say about it? I think its a farce...to think that for one day a year people have cause to celebrate with family....one day to be nice to each other...one to show you they love you...or at least pretend they do one day to to show caring. Then its back to being the mean society we are. Its back to being the dishonest...uncaring...hateful people society has become. We murder people...molest children...and abuse just about everyone we love...but for one day in December we have a day to Celebrate our own hiprocracy...to laugh...to smile...to love.....then back to being our old selves again. I wish xmas was everyday... without the gifts and garbage thats thrown at us on how xmas is supposed to be and what it really is? I dont need a special day to tell people I love them...I do it all the time. Christmas is about love not hiprocrasy.
-
Better one day of hypocracy and peace than a full year of horror.
Not everyone's evil. -
wow weydon. someones a humbug! anyways, christmas is a pagan holiday that was changed into a christian one so people didnt have such a hard time converting. same thing with valentines. the churches shunned it until they realized they could convert more people if they put a positive spin on it'
