Pot is not legal because booze is...and the goverment makes a lot of money off of booze and none off of pot.

It's illegal because the majority of voters are not marijuana users; the users aren't voting or picketing or anything, they just want it to be legal magically. Also, if it became legal, the government would indeed make money off of it, so the point against it's legality because it provides no income is wrong. Alcohol's legality has nothing to do with marijuana's. Simply a tradition.

    Touche'

THOUCHE' My answer was flip...however if I may point out that "users" are not just waiting on a magic carpet ride. There are very serious studies into the use of the herb for medical purposes and some countries are using it for that purpose at the present time. What are the penalties for simply possession nowadays. There are lobby groups trying to influence the goverment to legalize pot as well as protests happening such as somke ins. They may not get the same media coverage as others, possibly becasue they are non violent and have an air of passive resistance. Which seems to not make for good media copy in today's media coverage. History is a great reference; when did marijuana become illegal, what was happening at that time.
