Only in the USA. Will you see the people complaining that the gov does nothing for them and does not care about them. Since the whole health care reform began I have heard nothing but fear and hate about it.Now I know that it will take time to see it start working and hey nothing happens over night. Since the whole health care reform began I have heard nothing but fear and hate about it.Now I know that it will take time to see it start working and hey nothing happens over night.
Right now as I sit here in Alaska and stare in dumbfounded wonder over the letters to the editor that will no doubt crop up over the next few months.I think back to 2006 and remember that my mom is a servivor of cancer.I try really hard not to think about the 500k debt that hangs over her head.Or the fact that if she had been unisured she'd be dead.
And 2007 when my dad had a heart attack and the 250k that hangs over his head and will fall on me to pay if anything happens to them.I can only wonder if there's any hope of there being a chance to ether cut that combined debt down or if maybe there is a hope of it being paid off.
I think of the times where I had no insurnce and the bills from those times.But also in shock that it worse with insurence then it was with out.Never mind the fact that there are those fighting for their lives suffering form any number of illness's.
I greatful that the gov is trying to cut the cost down for those of us who live in this nation and while Alaska has a high cost of living there is no such thing as affordable health care in this nation.
I think of the elderly who have to choose between meds or food.I think about the fact that none of us are safe from this and then I think about what will happen ten years from now.
20 years ago if you had asked me if a black man would be in the oval office I'd have said the chances of that happening was one in a trillion.It happened.
If you had asked me if I thought cancer would hit a member of my family i'd have laughed at you.Or hear attacks for that matter.
Ten years ago I'd have thought you'd lost your mind on a uniformed plan for health care reform.
Now I look forwards and wonder what could happen.Winds of change have it this nation and all we can do is hope for the best.Plan for the worst but hope for the best.
Greed has brought us nothing but grief.Hate tears us apart.Hope will shine in the darkest of hours.
