I get your sentiment, that you want America to live up to her potential but don't criticize or look down on someone because they want to wear what's "in", you aren't better because you have 'risen above the in crowd'. I do think America needs some changing but not by sitting back and complaining about how some girl bought a pair of jeans.

....
did you read in your lungs opinion at all? it's not about JEANS... it's about the fact that America's vanity is prenting it from living up to the very morals it was founded on... it's about how people are more concerned with what other people think of them, then they are concerned about the fact that the world is entering a very dramatic downward spiral... or at least thats my take on it... correct me if i'm wrong, lungs...September 21, 2005

arent we, though?
isnt buying a pair of $200 jeans just for a name on the tag when they could just as well get any other pair of jeans for about $20 and give the other $180 to a charity, disgusting?how is it that you dont see this as problematic?
i work at hollywood video, we do A LOT of work with the star-light star-bright foundation (they bring entertainment to sick children in hospitals)... right now we are doing one of those things where you donate a dollar and get your name on a star... i have watched people rent 9 movies (the most we allow anyone to rent at a given time) and the procede to tell me that they dont have enough to give a dollar... meanwhile they are spending about $50 on movies... they can go without these movies but somehow they feel that terminally ill children should? and this isnt an isolated occurrence... it happens at least once a day... this IS grotesque, and disgusting....
so how can you say lung is attacking the wrong people? we are, indeed, disgusting people... myself included... i spend hundreds on instrument accessories that i dont need, but barely give $50 to charities a year... granted that i am a full time student, music major, that only works 2 days a week as to not interfere with school... so $50 is 50% of one of my checks... but still... i live with my parents and could give more... but, honestly, i would rather enjoy my life... so you can sit there and justify your way of life with all it's needless spending... or you can accept that we are all disgustingly selfish and move on with your life....
(i really wish lungs opinion was still up)
