Can one be inspired by something without interpreting it

Can one be inspired by something without interpreting it

  • deffinatly.

inspiration dosent have to come from anything specific so you dont have to know what your looking at or reading or feeling to get inspiration from it. its like looking at a painting. in this painting is nothing but a bunch of squares. from this, i bet, that very few people will actually “get” it, but many will gain some sort of inspitation from it.

  • It doesn't matter

It doesn't matter. Just because something is an interpretation... doesn't mean that the interpretation is wrong. But if you think about it, you aren't doing any actual interpreting until after you've recieved the inspiration from whatever it is. Only once you try recreating it or explaining it does it become an interpretation of what it started out as. But just the simple fact that something is inspiring to you doesn't mean that you've created a separate interpretation for what is was that inspired you.

  • without interpreting!?!?!

can you see an apple without interpreting it? can you see a sunset without interpreting it. when you see something, you interpret it in accordance to your own memories, logic and emotion. That is the base of all human life. in other words, i think this question is a little silly

  • you mean accurately...

or just interpreting in general terms?

'Cos I don't think John Lennon and Paul McCartney meant to inspire Charles Manson to ignite a war between blacks and whites, but that was his interpretation of their hit release "Helter Skelter."

And certainly, not everyone who heard the song felt the same kind of inspiration.

So, no, I think the correlation between inspiration and interpretation is subjective.
