Religion, be it Wicca, Thelema, Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Sikhism, Hinduism, Vodou, Asatru, Stregheria, Taoism, Buddhism, Shintoism, Modern Druidism, Satanism or any other religion that I have left out, is based off of ethical thought. Religion is, in very many ways, something that revolves around ethics. Even Satanism, which we would immediately judge based on its name, does not condone going out and killing people or raping women and children or killing animals.

It should not matter to society which religion you are, as long as you behave ethically.

If one believes that the greatest goal in life is Heaven, then yeah, you are darn right it matters. The thing with this is, nobody really knows. All we can do is hope we are right. But this does not mean you can do whatever you want. You have to dedicate your entire life to God, and then if your religion was wrong in the afterlife, hope for forgiveness. But I am sure God would rather have us worship him in some way than in none at all.

I think if your not into the whole, lets go to chruch every Sunday morning, then theres nothing wrong with you. i don't believe that you have to "fallow" a religion or belive in a certan religion. Having my own belifes is good enough for me

  • Of course

Of course religion matters. Religion gives people a structure for thier spirituality, and many people obviously crave this structure. I think that religion should always be an available way for people to express thier spirituality, but it is not the only way. Many people are apathiests, athiests, or agnostics, etc, many people find nature in general a very spiritual thing. So yes, religion is important because it is a way for us to express ourselves. I do not, however, think it is a good idea for religion to become a mass group of mindless people lead by power hungry idiots, which is what many religions are becoming.

I am a christian. Now, at first glance it may seem I am contradicting myself. I say that religion doesn't matter, yet I claim to be a christian. How can this be? It's simple. Christianity is NOT a religion. Christianity is broken up into many different religions, or denominations, or sects, but the fundementals are the same if they go by the Bible. The belief of Jesus Crist as savior is not a seperate religion. It says in the Bible that the only thing that matters is the belief in Jesus Christ as your savior. It doesn't matter if you're baptist, catholic, lutheran, etc. All that matters is if you trust Jesus. Therefore I believe religion is just segregation of faith. It's not the faith or the belief that start these holy wars, it's the segregation and the arrogance behind them. In conclusion, no, religion does not matter in your salvation as long as you have accepted Jesus Christ into your heart.
