Satan

Alright, I'm a Christian. I'd like the answers to be from a Biblical standpoint. If you have other questions that fit this topic, please add them. Thanks.

Does God love Satan? Does Satan have free choice/free will? Can Satan do good? Can Satan give up? Can Satan repent?

--Tim (Sharcu)

  • SATAN (known as Stan by some) in brief

The reality of the being known as Satan is just this: Satan was once Lucifer, the highest among all the honor guard surrounding God's throne. His name means "bright morningstar," and reflects the special honor attributed to him. In addition to being the most powerful created being in existence, he was also made the most beautiful of all the angels in Heaven. This, however, was his downfall, for his vanity overtook his devotion to the Lord, and he chose to see himself as not only more beautiful than God, but superior to Him in all ways. The Lord God was greatly saddened at this because He knew that once convinced of his own (false) superiority, Lucifer would never turn his devotion back to the Lord. In his arrogance and pride, Lucifer rallied other angels to his standard of superiority to God and sought war on the Most High and his faithful servants. Lucifer's army was defeated, and because he would not accept the forgiveness of God, Lucifer was forced to leave the full presence of the Lord as He exists on His throne and entered a type of self-imposed exile where the presence of God exists, but where the Lord God is also continually rejected by those who reside there; this place is more commonly referred to as Hell. Since these events, which all occurred outside of Time, Lucifer, who took the name Satan as a final rejection of God's initial gift(s) has sought the ruination of mankind by trying to make us like him: bitter, arrogant, hateful, spiteful, and wretched in his misery of rejection and denial.

In this description of the events that transpired before the beginning of Time, which can be found in a more historically authentic form in the Book of Revelation (Apocalypse in some translations), all of the questions asked initially are answered:

-Does God love Satan? Yes, with all His being. Satan is still a creation of God, and no matter how defiled and hopelessly deformed he makes himself, God will ALWAYS love him.

-Does Satan have free choice/free will? Yes, but he cannot use his indescribably expansive (but NOT omnipotent) power to DIRECTLY influence the flow of people's lives, but he can subvert our wills to his through lies, deceit, temptation and treachery.

-Can Satan do good? No, but good can be defined as that which is part of the will of God, and since Satan does all in his power to subvert the will of God in Creation to his own machinations, then he cannot possibly do "good" as it is defined here.

-Can Satan give up? He probably could, but just like the person who has already finished ninety percent (90%) of a race, Satan believes he sees his prize in sight and his plans coming to fruition, so he will, most likely, NOT stop, though he could IF he wanted to do so.

-Can Satan repent? Yes, but taking the immediately previous question and its subsequent answer into consideration, Satan would probably NOT repent of his actions for the same reason.

  • My Opinion

Ya, I know, I came up with the questions, but oh well. lol God says to love your enemy as yourself, correct? Is Satan our enemy? In my opinion, he's our worst enemy... so wouldn't we have to love him even more? So, I would say that yes, we should love Satan. But for me to do that, I am saying that we are to love sin. So that's unBiblical. So the question can have no answer. Now, does Satan have free choice? He did, but now he is so wound up in sin and making others suffer, I don't think he could or ever would want to turn from his evil ways. Which answers the other 3 questions. But, I don't think that these questions will ever honestly be known until we reach heaven.

  • The Reality of Satan

According to the original Bible before it was translated and modernized, the charcter of Satan didn't even exist. The word 'satan' referred to any being that went against God's will. Therefore, according to Christian belief, yes, God loves Satan because God loves everybody, regardless of how they have denied him....supposedly.

Does God love Satan? i'm not sure, probably not, being that he did kick satan out of heaven. Does Satan have free choice/free will? yes, enoch explains that god told the angels to worship the image of adam, for he is made in the image of god, but satan refused. That refusal proves that he has free will Can Satan do good? i believe so. i he has free will, than he can choose to do good Can Satan give up? yes Can Satan repent? i think that he could, but i think also that he is beyong forgivness, and i also doubt that he would ever try to repent.

  • the origins of the name satan

in the bible (the old testemant for the christians), "satan" appears very rarely, and is only ever referred to as "Malakh Ha Satan" (all the are pronounced like in "bar"). for those of you who dont know hebrew, "Malakh Ha Satan" means "the Accusing Angel" essentially, Satan was there to play the devil's advocate (no pun intended) with god. Satan was the one who looked for the bad in people, and then acted as a prosecuting attorney and argued against them before god. satan and god are opposites, whether one is good and the other evil, is a topic of its own

  • No

God told us to 'love our neighbors as ourselves' Satan is NOT human, he's a fallen angel, so we don't have to love him, or put up with his crap. Satan is NOT God's equal, and he WILL be destroyed, which he is fully aware of. Thats why he's doing his best to keep us from God's love. He has free will, and has made his choice, now he's jealous of us and the love that we recieve from God. I'm not entirely sure how the love part goes, because I know as humans, we were created to be loved by Him, but I've never read anything to suggest thats the function of angels. He's not human, so he doesn't have the same choices that we do. I'm not sure that forgiveness applies. So I don't know what their relationship is like, but I know Satan WILL be destroyed, and frankly, I'm looking forward to getting him off my back, lol.

  • To be or not to be ...

Satan just hates self-aware life forms with a mind of there own. He hates our willful mind, for it is incomprehensible and paradoxical to Him. His ultimate goal is to enslave our mind and take away our free will, thus plunging us in the abyss called Hell, where live is meaningless and to know this is pure insanity; like a scream forever turning in on itself wanting to end it all.

When Satan has enslaved enough of us, He will be able to start the prophesied apocalyptic endgame on a global scale; the final battle that will result in the annihilation of all sentient life on earth.

Satan has no choice; he must direct all His efforts towards the annihilation of man as the bearer of the word of God: I am this I am.

The 'good' of Satan isn't what it seems; his good must facilitate His final goal.

P.S. Satan is not the same figure as Lucifer. Lucifer is the lord of the Light, while Satan is the lord of Darkness.

  • equal

Satan is not a creation of God, but his equal and opposite. they have each their heaven and hell, and each had their part in creating this world. where did the snake come from, in the garden of eden? God didn't create it. this shows that Satan is also a Creator. they are equal, or else one would have driven away and destroyed the other.

  • Satan (Lucifer)

OK, Lucifer (or Satan) was an angel created by God, he was right up there you know, God, Jesus, HS, Lucifer, he was the most beautiful angel, but he got a big head, thought he could do a better job then God, so he got kicked out of heavan, and romes around earth to mess with us... Why didn't God just kill him, reason God loves him. You ever read Job, he walks into heavan and the only one to notice is God, so he is still beautiful, considering Lucifer means, The Light or Star or something, which makes it farly easy for him to convince us to sin he makes it look good, But in the end he is the accuser, or Satan....anyway I went on to long, and someone may have said all this already but I wanted to.

  • Unforgivable Sins

Don't most brands of Christian interpretation contend that there are some sins which are unpardonable? If there are, Satan would have certainly been the first to have crossed that line. If God has a grudge against Satan, I can't imagine it is in our best interests as humans to love him.

Yes, Special Girl, we are at once created in the image of God and born into sin. Bummer, huh?!

  • There Is No Good Without Evil

To me is seems that Satan is the real backbone of the Catholic church. Wihout evil...Good cannot exsist. Not to mention that people use fear and the Devil to keep others 'loyal' to God. It seems to me we are all much more akin to Satan than we are to God. Does anyone else agree?

  • Wow...

Hey Tim, while we should love Satan, that doesn't mean we should love what he represents: sin. So, I guess we can love him because God told us to do so, but that doesn't mean we have to love what he tells us: lies. So, we can love Satan by, I don't know, praying for those of us that have trouble with him, I guess, because no matter what, Satan will always CHOOSE (^_^) to do wrong and to do evil. Wow, Tim, these were some tough questions... Ask God when you get to heaven. lol

  • No Turning Back

I personally think that there is no turning back for Satan now that he is on the "dark side." Why? Good and evil are as opposite as light and darkness, fire and water, or in Taoistic terms, yin and yang. To have one without the other (I believe) would disturbe the balance. Satan chose the path of sin and I think that he wouldn't turn back even if he had the opportunity. Besides, I think that in the beginning God knew Satan would turn out to be evil and pose a threat to all humans, yet he still created Satan. I think God created Satan so that all humans would have a choice between the path of good and evil. So that we would be with God by choice, not by force. I see Satan more as a force of nature. Just like light and darkness or fire and water. Water can't choose to be fire and fire can't choose to be water. Fire anmd water can't be and the same place, same with Heaven and Hell, or God and Satan. Because we are human and have a conscience, we have a natural yearning for what is good. Our conscience and emotions are what set the boundaries of good and evil. Unlike us Satan doesn't have a conscience, so I personally don't think he would want to turn back even if he had the oppportunity.

  • Truth

God created the Heavens before He created the Earth. And in the Heavens, He created Satan. Satan is clearly not the equal to God becuase God wins in every single battle they fight. They only reason Satan is allowed to exist and do what he does is because God loves all His creation, and will not destroy it. But He will let them choose their destiny, and it should be made clear that it was not God who made hell. It was satan and the other fallen angels.

  • satan doesn't exist
Follow the logic -> God IS. If the scripture were to be trusted - Satan rivaled God in power and enlightenment - this would mean that he would have to be very wise - like god right? nearly omnipotent - at any rate very intuitive? That kind of wisdom and that kind of insight does not fit with an "arrogant and selfish and perverted creature" whose ONLY mere point of existence is to UNDO progress?!?!?! Let's face it - there is no "puppeteer" pulling strings or trying to "influence" people to do right or wrong - that's rubbish. This duality concept needs to be burried already.

  • Satan

if anyone actually read a REAL! satanic bible then they will know that he is not evil. satan is the symbol for living life to the fullest, and worshiping yourself.and not about evil and sacrificng animals.it is simply enjoying life, and if god is so forgiving as the bible claims him to be then surly he would forgive our sins if we all followed the teaching of satan. the whole bible contradicts its self by saying that god loves everything so that means he must love he devil too( Am i the only one realsing that the bible makes no sense) .and so has indocrtinated christians into believing satan is all evil and can bring no good.
