Death is what you make of it11% Voted for by Pennaroyaltea, a forgotten flower, sagespirit23, pnktrky.
There is no way of knowing what is going to happen when it is all over. I believe that religion gives us a way to live easier. Life is what you make of it, and so is death. When your life is taken away it will not be given back to you. Things will never be the same. That is why we shouldn't dwell on death, because then we wouldn't really be living. We'd just be existing and wasting the little time we have.

Heaven Exists5% Voted for by Sharcu, andypandy.
I'm a Christian so of course I believe that heaven exists. Reincarnation is just a bunch of crap as far as I'm concerned (no offense). I believe there was a beginning and there will be an end (which goes against the theory of reincarnation). I believe that you will be sent to heaven only if you accept Jesus as your savior. You will be sent to hell if you don't. This is not a threat, it is because you can't get to God because God is perfect and everyone has sinned, no matter what. This my belief.

well i posted something like this5% Voted for by flipflopinTM, sahel.
ok i think that we in this stage are only prepared to handle so much knowledge and gifts. When our bodies die our mind and spirit move to the next level where we gain more knowledge and attempt to come closer to perfection.

Reincarnation and The Continuation of Energy5% Voted for by BlueWitch, letitstorm.
Energy is not created or destroyed, just transmutted. A soul is energy and energy can be changed but not detroyed. It can't remain stagnant or everything would slowly cease to live because of the lowering level of usable energy. This natural law in theory rules out a permanent heaven or a permanent hell. Reincarnation however works. Think about it. The energy is not stagnant. It moves and changes. The consciousness holds this energy intact allowing it to move and interact with the environment. To lose energy, but gain it from outside sources, and in effect remain a whole. This is not the only evidence. For thousands of years holy men have metaphysicaly charted the Astral plain and come to the conclusion of reincarnation. Even the Bible supports reincarnation when in the new testament Jesus says,"And Behold Elishia has come among you again, yet you would not know him." In this comment he is making a referance to Jon The Baptist being Elishia reborn. Think of the lessons we see in nature. Nature is divine law. Think of the moon, the sun, the changing seasons. All of them reflect reincarnation. The universe operates on vibrational level. Each life unto the next, the vibration of a "being" gets higher until eventually it will leave the spiral of rebirth, but it still isn't stagnant. Movement and change are the keys. Also think again, collectivly more religions have acknowledged reincarnation than any other spiritual explanation of the afterlife. Millions of people remember pastlives. When looked at analyticaly reincarnation is the only explanation that makes sense to me, especially considering I've had past life memories myself.

You Disperse5% Voted for by elephant dancing, AdamLink.
The same thing that happens at any death; the energy disperses. The body is eaten, the breath is released, you are dispersed.
That just makes sense to me.

Ehh... Not quite sure what i'm saying.Voted for by lili27.
I have a pretty out there view on death. I think there are three opposites, not 2, like positive, nuetral, negative. So instead of just life and death i think it goes past life, life, after life. but the after life isnt really after life, its this life. if you live this life so that you hate it, you will have to live it over creating your own hell, if you live it happily you will live it over, heaven. I think the answer lies in combining both scientific views and those beliefs of different religions, I believe we as humans have the answer, we just keep overlooking it. Im probably wrong though, I dont know much about science or religion.

why worry when you can pray or meditateVoted for by teraswu.
I think god exists in our minds and that is why we like to create poetry for example. I read an article by a sociologist that said, the hardest thing for people to accept is that there might now be anything after this life and I think that is why people want to believe in heavan, that and this life is hard, so heaven is a nice idea, maybe more. The bible has some very good points, like, not sure of the verse, but says, why worry when you can pray, or to add to that, why worry when you can meditate or exercise or......life is to live not worry but in this more complex world ,is harder to not worry. So I think we have to accept what we cant control and get on with our lives.

More of a physical thing...Voted for by Stick Bug.
Nothing happens to the soul, because it isn't there. So, I wouldn't say we go to heaven or become reincarnated. To say either would mean that we actually live again, and really, as individuals, we don't. Your individual thoughts and functions cease.
Though I suppose I do believe in something *like* reincarnation. All creatures simply return to the soil of Earth, mix, and something new is born out of the mix. It's just completely physical, though.

Death is just a phaseVoted for by dierahul.
Just like the night and day... they say there is life after death.. well perhaps, death is just a phase.. just like the whole cycle of life.. when you are just a baby trying to fight for the first gush of air that goes through in you heart and mind and gives you the sensation and feeling... or the first feeling of pain that makes you feel alive... or the first little smile that you break into before the wreckless time introduces you to the world of frowns.. well just like all of this and more.. Death is just a phase!!

there is nothing, its a nice dream thoughVoted for by classical beauty.
everyone would like to believe there is something after death, knowing that life ends and then there is nothing. But in my opinion there isn't anything, we die, decompose and return to the earth, simple as that life is one big cycle.

the cycle of it all..Voted for by advitya thapa.
there is no such thing as heaven or hell in my opinion..i really dont beleive in any force that puts you in either of these places.."to judge"is a human concept..i beleive in the impersonal force "brahman"and till we realise it its reincarnation..one must wash away the karma collected in past and present births.its not fatalistic..as karma is something dynamic..in my opinion one can get rid of it and attain unity with the ultimate reality..there can certainly not be anything that does not exist after death..its a cycle..one which needs to be understood, broken and overcome..ignorance and the chase for futile things lead us to this state of birth and misery..the unity is all around and by realising the truth"tatvamasi"(that thou art)we can once again become one with what we are"aham brahmasmi"(i am brahman).

I believe...Voted for by AnnaJayne.
I believe in re-incarnation, i dont believe in heaven...if there was such a thing then there would be no reason for humans to be sent to leave on earth, our souls would just be kept in heaven forever without ever having to step foot on this earth full of crap and violence...for me heaven just doesnt exist.

NO there is no proof
i totally agree with you, i am an atheist, and that is only because i believe nothing happens to you after you die. i refuse to believe that after your rotting body is shoved into the ground, some unseen force lifts up your "soul" and takes you anywhere. maybe i am just a scientist... couldn't tell youDecember 6, 2005

Death is probably just as it seems.
Its the end. When you die you become powerless, unable even to dream or remember. All you know becomes forgotten, as the pages of your memory are scattered, the ink fades from the paper that crumbles when no breath sustains it. This is why you gather your rosebuds while ye may. This is why you don't do things that will make people so mad that they want to shoot you. Life is to be enjoyed and extended to the extent it can. I believe that maximum utility can be found in some compromise between these. Maybe one day it will be possible to live much longer. Let us hope to avoid heart attacks, live to see the cure for cancer and better safety devices, like better airbags in cars, to prevent that sad final end. Maybe one day we can find a way of saving the unique viewpoint and memories that an individual has and save it from that sinking ship that is a dying body. Let us work on medicine, on safety and peace and enjoyment. Let us work on building and preserving what we know is real, while we can.December 31, 2006

No "nothing"
Obviously we are reincarnated. We are here now aren’t we? How can there be nothing? No one can experience “nothing.” Reincarnation is the only rational answer without being religious. Please register or login to comment! It's totally free
