Religion - how do we know what is right?

How can we know what religious path to take, when we're not even dead. Only the dead can tell us which was would be the right way, and since they're dead.. then yea. That doesn't work to well =]. Unless you can speak with the dead. Which I acknowledge some can, but then usually society deems them as dellusional, so then it makes it harder to follow them if just maybe they know the right religion. So in a nutshell here.. how can we really know what is the right religion before it's too late?

  • that's just it

we cannot know exactly what religion to follow. it all depends on who you are i guess (with a little parental history in the background)

  • Here's a thought...

While we can't speak with the dead, the dead still speak with us.

My interest in Buddhism was from a book "The Teachings of Buddha" which I bought in Kamakura, Japan at the statue of the Great Buddha. Siddhartha speaks much as Solomon does in the Book of Proverbs. The whole Buddhist philosophy makes a lot of sense.

Later, I read the New Testament and it was the words of the Apostle Paul that persuaded me to adopt Christianity as my philosophical guide.

I am a devout Christian in many aspects, though there is one area of my life where, by choice, I fall short of most contemporary Christians expectations. I'm a bit to steeped in my own hypocrisy to set a sterling example in a brick and mortar church, but I enjoy spreading the Good Word over the Internet.

The beauty of the religious experience is that you don't believe in God because you saw his footprint in the snow down in Antarctica. You read, you compare, and you believe from a wellspring of faith that forms in the very core of your being. It's better that way.

  • the core

i think religion is based on what you believe in the core of your soul. what you KNOW is right. no matter if others think your wrong or not, not even your parents.
