Does fate exist?

Fate, (the idea that everything, no matter how small, has an impact on everything that happens.)does it exist, or is it all a bunch of bologna, or maybe it's not completely true, but it is kind of true, still.

  • It does, for the most part.

I believe that fate exists, in a sense. I believe that many things can affect what happens. Even some small things. But not extremely far-fetched things like the cereal you ate this morning affecting whether or not you get asked to the dance on Wednesday.

  • Fate VS Belief

I believe in two things: fate and destiny. Fate, I believe is something ultimate and written in stone. It is very vague and sometimes decieving. It is nearly impossible to see what your fate is. Destiny, however, is totally up to you, and the choices that you make. What becomes of yourself is how oyu make it. But, I believe that it all ultimately adds up to one final destination: your fate.

That's just my personal opinion on it, as far fetched as it may seem.

  • Multiple World Theory

Fate cannot exist. If it did, there would be no choice, no god, no conciousnous (excuse the spelling, im drunk) and therefore, no life. I do however believe that, when we are faced with a choice, for instance, abortion or birth, the world splits; in one world the baby is born, in another it is terminated. If this theory is correct, there re uncountable billions of universes, all laid on top of each other with the most minute space between. Think about how many choices we make in a day, it is imposible that fate is real, and just to add to the world theory, we could never enter another "over-lapped" world, as as we leave this one, we would cease to exist in another. There. That is what I beleive. Also, would you like to think your life is planned, i like choice thanks. Hmmm, Peas or Carrots...

  • No - at least, not the way you think!

    Determined fate cannot exist because:

There's no reason to suggest that cause and effect holds true at our level, as we know it Doesn't on a quantum level.

It is not a necesity that all atoms should effect all other atoms - in fact theres no logical reason to suggest they affect each other at all.

Hume states that although it may seem Rational to suggest that opening your hand will cause the apple you were holding to fall from it, there is no Logical reason to believe it will actually happen. (His reasoning is something along the lines of; you beleive it to happen because all other times, it has happened before. It's like saying, I've seen 1000 white swans, so all swans must be white)

So cause and effect is actually logical nonsense!

We know chaos to exist within the universe - seemingly haphazard events occuring with no cause, it happens at a subatomic level.

My boyfriend, who's studying all this 'bologna' says actually, if you open your hand, there's a minute chance the apple will turn into an elephant. And he's a scientist...

Physics (at least, as I understand it) now agrees that this element of chaos says there can be no prediction that anything will follow a predetermined path.

    The problem is: Does chaos make us more ‘free’? With determinism/fate theories, we are prisoners to our predestiny. But with chaos – our choices being random and unfounded – we are not the instigators of our own descision – so we’re not really anymore in control;

So are we all prisoners to our own ‘chaotic fates’?

  • I don't really care that much, lol.

So I don't really care too much on the subject but I do believe that at some points of my life fate has taken its roll. As someone said the cereal you eat doesn't determin your date but it can ditermin if you throw up later. My idea of fate is the thought in someone elses mind (obvously not it your control) that effects you. Like 'having a feeling' or basically a preminition. I've gotten a 'feeling' before and the conceuences were out of my control.

I don't know, maby I'm just trying to justify the things things that are out of my control.

  • If it doesn't, then what happens next?

I don't believe in pre destination or any of that balogna, but to be honest, I do believe in fate. God (not to shower you too much in religion) has a plan for each and every one of us and it is our fate/destiny to fullfill it by the choices that we make. Have you ever read those books where you read one page, and at the bottom it lets you make a choice as to what happens next? The information has been in that book all along, and you know that, so making a choice is like picking the path thats already waiting for you... does that make sense?

In conclusion, yes, fate is real.
