I am scared... I feel alone... that I am the only real live human being... I don't get myself sometimes. Does anyone feel that they are alone in the world, and everyone else is just your imagination.

I dont know whether i am taking you too literally, but i would imagine if everyone else is a robot then they would have been programmed to think in a logical way. The world is filled with people doing things which are far too illogical and wickedly creative for a machine to contemplate

You don't have to have a mental disorder or anything crazy to feel this way, in fact, there is a whole lone of philosophical thought about this called epistimology. Basically, if you think this, you need to truly look deep in the human race. What makes you different from everyone else? Are you smarter, funnier, more creative, or do you believe this simply becuase you are...you? I know I am not a robot. But of course, if you belive I am, you wouldn't believe me. One philospher whose name I cannot think of right now put it simply, "I think, therefore I am." I think, I use my brain, I am essentially equal in consciousness to you therefore, I am not a robot unless you are one too, and we both know you aren't, I know I'm not. I have life, and I am not a robot. This is what makes life so great: interacting with other individuals who possess life.

Nothing deep9% Voted for by Makessenseright, Hamumori.
Yep I've had the exact same thought, I'm a lab rat and everyone else is controlled by some scientist. I have also had the idea that my life is exactly mapped out for me and no matter what I do it was all planned that way. Sorta freaky thoughts, but I don't believe either of them cause then I wouldn't be able to function.

my ex friend, (long story) was skisiphrenic, she thought that her world was made up, she compared it to the truman show. She was put into a phyciatric ward after she started smoking bud cronicly and drinking. she would have fights and yell at complete strangers because she thought they were filming her... Your not alone, maube just a little unstable

Don't WorryVoted for by Stumbled Into God.
hey everyone has thoughts like that even if they don't tell people its natural to question our surrounding cause if we didn't the trumad show and the matrix would be films. It DOES NOT mean your crazy but i could drive you insane! like the strawberry gashes friend. Just don't take it so seriously the more you think about it the more worried youll get even if everyone else is robots would it make any difference to your life? The facts is if we were all robots would talking about stuff like that be banned and nobody else would think like that apart from you and thats impossible so think about it logically why would everyone be robots. If there robots wouldn't they know a lot of the answers and not waste there time with drugs and drinking and such? It's a small probabiltiy don't worry yourself over something like that or it'll drive you insane trust me. I often think about stuff like that but just just have to leave it because you can never prove it that they are robots but you can have more prove that they aren't can't you?

I know what you mean. I'm pretty sure I exist, but I've driven myself crazy many times thinking about whether or not other ppl exist, never mind being robots. I think that other people are real and have souls or w/e. I believe that I do at least, but i don't expect you to believe me. It's understandable that you're thinking like this, though. It's tough. I hope i'm not babbling. I don't know what to say other than that I really hope you work this out.

If you've been feeling like that for a very long time, I'm not sure what disorder that is or if it even is any disorder, but I know it's not schizophrenia because in schizophrenia you feel watched all the time and not alone. On top of that you hear voices and so you can't feel alone. Do you have some power in your life or none? It might be that you feel helpless because you have very little power. Too much power is bad but we all need some power in our life to feel validated. My advice - Eat well, dress well and sleep well! Always works. For sleeping well you'll have to ensure of course that you do some physical work and get some fresh air everyday and see that things like too much caffeine etc., are not keeping you awake.

Scary so Change itVoted for by Spheres of Wisdom.
You are alone. Everyone else is not a robot. And it should be scary to you. So change the thought process. If I see a horror movie I get scaried and then over time I think about it. It was only a horror movie and its not real. And then a miracle happens. I get over it.

A little varied thoughtVoted for by The Pole Star.
I think we are not alone in the world. but, as this thought freezes your blood. A thought freezes my blood too and that is, god? No one amongst us have any kind of fact or PROOVED FACT which can state that god is holy, he isn't evil. I think that it is really scary consideing human being alone in this infinity. And if we are alone and our only hope, holy god isn't satisfactory, then there is a dark world aside.

I feel the same way.Voted for by Ajay.
I feel like I am the only one in my life that has feelings as deep as I do and I feel that everyone else around me is just a hollow shell of a person. Although I don't see them as "robots," I have a hard time as seeing them as being like me. Even though I am very good at putting myself in other peoples' shoes, I am just never able to know how deep other people really think.
This exact thing is really driving me crazy lately. I hate how people shut themselves up inside and can never talk about their feelings. I hate how I do this myself and even though I am willing to open up to my friends and wish they would do the same, I don't know what to do without seeming creepy. And I don't even know if they care.

Yes Virginia, there is a Machine....Voted for by flamingsword.
you are not alone - Yes Keegan, there is a Machine. It’s the way society is Run - in order for the Powerful to stay in power, there has to be a slave class. the powerful keep everyone in check with fear and taxes Christmas World War one - soldiers entrenched on both sides got out of there trenches met each other and started playing a game of foot ball - orders came from both sides to stop the fratinization - because the war was in serious jeopardy of coming to a screeching halt. they were encouraged to fight those who could have become there friends by the word treason and the threat of death. it would have set a powerful president and given a lot of power to the individual and taken a lot of power away from Government. It is not Human nature to work endless hours or to fight incredible Wars - it’s just that there are some people that associate wealth and power with security and freedom and there are those who are dependent on the economic class structured system of society. daring to question it gets the response of either political heresy or mental disorder, especially in a lower income class (less money - less freedom - less power), because there is a very real possibility of living without such a system and living well. If you didn’t have to pay taxes (or at least not as much as we do) if you only had to work enough - not a majority of your time, if you didn’t have the fear of falling behind on payments or taxes - your free time would allow you to explore in real life concepts that are now just trapped in your mind. that thought of of am I the only one who sees this, is the desire for free thought.
It’s not you, everyone feels this way because every one is caught in the same trap. walk talk or even think out side of the system and you will be punished for it. because dissidence breeds revolution and revolution breeds evolution. It’s a conspiracy of human nature run amuck, the species has been coerced into a hierarchy structure - those at the top are stuck in there situation to maintain power, the lowers ranks do what the established system demands for them to not slip lower or be cast out which usually involves having subserviants under them. some of them about finding freedom from it.
great minds like yourself, have thought the same(and to dare to ask the question does make you a great mind). Machiavelli, the Prince.- William Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice.-George Orwell, 1984.- George Lucus, THX1138.- Pink Floyd, The Wall.- Douglas Adams, Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy.- Frank Hurbert,Dune.-.....all stories about the “Machine” that we all seem to be a wheel or cog in.you are in very good company.

I really understand that problem.Heheh..More then you know. I suffer from a chemical imbalance in the brain so when it comes to percieving reality as other humans do im a step in a different direction. Not saying that you are. You seem perfectly normal. Feeling like your alone isn't uncommon as you can see from so many others opinions. Its actually something that happends to almost every single person. I remember when I first got "sick" As my friends like to call it...I felt so alone and everything became really 2D. It was like watching a movie and the world was just a show i was viewing. No one was real. They all seemed to be apart of the movie. It got so bad I slept almost all day everyday for 4 months. It's a scary thing to go threw thinking that no one else has any thoughts or feelings and your dreams seem more real then when your awake...Thats just my experience.

schizophrenia response and a thoughtVoted for by Molzahn.
one could debate there are varying levels of schizophrenia, infact if we truly believe it is there we will change our perceptions of ourselves to see ourselves fit these stereotypes of what signs and symptoms should be there. Don't fall into the trap of believing you are something based on perceptions of symptoms, it is in my experience and my opinion that schizophrenics simply lack cogntive focus;they have trouble channeling elements of their environment separately.
I'm not sure what it is, I think you should try expanding the thought, explain it more. because I too had that feeling of being the only real person, but at the same time the most fake. but this is just because I read people too easily, I'll look at someone and see the cogs turning in their heads. On my better days I look and see every little reaction trickling through their mind to everything I say and everything they sense. I find the people around me too predictable, do you have the same problem? Is that what you ment by 'robots'? can you measure the input-output of the people around you keegan? Does this cause you to question the existance of the people around you? where you feel they are just emulating set patterns of interaction? If so, try taking a step back and analyse yourself and see how predictable you yourself are, then you'll know the feeling I have.

You are a mere projection and I'm the only real person. You are here to stop me from thinking this, as a way to decieve me, that I'm not the only one.I have to say it's natural
