Can we contemplate Nothing?

In the beginning there was nothing.

  • If you knew Nothing, could you tell?

It started with the Big Bang they say.

Going with the idea that space-time began to expand from a dimension less point, it follows that it will end sometime. For I can not get it straight that something that once began will never end again. That also means that the universe has a certain form, and some say it is shaped like a donut.

A special donut that would be. Maybe it would work like a Moebius strip, but than the strip would be three dimensional space, stretched out by time to become a tube that got turned back onto itself and connects to it's beginning. Like you can do with a strip of paper; turn it 180 degrees lengths wise and than tape the two end together. On such a ring you can draw a line on (surprise) both sites of the paper strip without lifting your pen from the paper to get to the other site. So how far can I imagine this and put it into words without mathematics and still have a sliver of a change that someone else could locks on to it?

Imagine the moment before the Big Bang; no dimensions; no space, no time but Nothing. There was a point they gather, a dimension less beginning. That point outside time was nowhere in particular because there weren't any dimensions around yet. Still that moment always had a place in our mind, and today it's also known as the Big Bang.

I also like to call it point zero, or the mystery point. I fantasize that it had great potential to move, but there wasn't yet a realm to move into. I try to think of Nothing. I somehow have the inkling that if I could understand Nothing, I might just begin to understand the creation of space and time. A fruitless undertaking maybe, but I think people have always pondered upon the notion of Nothing, and that is was also known as Chaos in the old myth.

Why did the mystery point start to expand? First of all, pondering the meaning of this question is a private game to me, for somehow my contemplation towards Nothing seem to help to unclutter my thoughts and bring me into a more placid state of mind. And second, I don't know. Any answer would be arbitrary to me. Like this answer: Maybe for no reason at all. Or this answer: Point zero just wanted to alleviate the tightness of Nothing. What ever, but I just love contemplating point zero.

Do you like to contemplate Nothing too? If you knew Nothing, could you tell me, could you show me? Would it change me?

  • WELL

HMMM, NOTHING FROM NOTHING EQUALS NOTHING.THERE HAD TO HAVE BEEN SOMETHING TO CREATE WHAT WE KNOW TODAY AS LIFE. AND FOR ME SINCE MY BELIEF SYSTEM IS DEEPLY ROOTED IN GOD, MY FEELING IS THAT ALL LIFE STEMS FROM HIM. HE IS THE UNIVERSAL FORCE THAT MAKES THIS WORLD GO AROUND.IN ADDITION ( TO SIT AND PONDER ABOUT NOTHING HAVEN'T HAD A CHANCE TO DO THAT YET.LOL)
