How did this happen? How did people become brainwashed into thinking the Republican ideology is a consistent with Christianity. The teachings of Christ tell us to love one another, to love your neighbor, that being rich is bad, and lots of other similar teachings. The exact opposite of what Republican's stand for.
FYI: to see where you place on the political spectrum, take this quick quiz. It was designed by the Libertarians, so the questions are in a way that you're likely to come up "Libertarian" so be warned... http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz.html

For your info being a Donkey or an Elephant has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not someone is a Christian.

LOL....I hope you are joking because absolutely no where in the bible does it say being rich is bad. Republican nor Democratic beliefs have anything to do with Christianity. Get real and learn to think things through GGeezzz..

come on...Voted for by jonesz12.
And democrats stand for Christianity by being for killing unborn babies and approving gay marriage. That makes less sense than republicans standing for Christianity, because you don't have to be rich or an ass hole to your neighbor to be republican. Energizer is right, political idealogies are no where near comparable to being a Christian. They're completely separate.

Well when the leader of a political group (George Twit Bush) says he's convinced that God wanted him to be the president of the United States... then that's where Christianity comes into play hand-in-hand with the Republican party.

republic vs. democracyi think america has disgustingly distorted the meanings of "republicanism" and "democracy" being a republican is simply adhering to laws governed by an elected official who does as he sees best to benefit the people. being a democrat is being a member of a nation/community where majority rules. in my opinion (feel free to disagree) republicanism is more in line with christianity than a democracy would be. in a democracy, all would be fine until someone didn't get his/her way, then the peace would be disturbed and their would be mob rule. of all the forms of government, republicanism seems the most peaceful in our modern culture. i can see where libertarianism would come into christianity, as it does seem to be a dominant theme between christians and God (God gives us the free will to do whatever we want), but the thing is, people are sinful (again feel free to disagree... this is coming from a Christian pov) so we need an elected official to legislate. voting on a decision doesn't always work (as in a democracy), especially when there is resistance.Voted for by opera ghostess.

Not alienate science and religion
University Of Glamorgan (in United Kingdom > Wales > Vale of Glamorgan) Science and Science Fiction — 18 weeks ago The first and only undergraduate program in the world on (science and) science fiction “concentrates on bridging the presumed cultural division between science and the humanities.” See http://www.glam.ac.uk/coursedetails/687/207 Jul 04, 02:43AM PDT 3 cheers Cheer this entry! Comments: Sep 16, 12:40PM | Respond to this cafegroundzero 43 places Would that we had more of this in the USA I fear that the so-called “Moral Majority” and other right wing Americans are bringing us into a dark ages of anti-intellectualism, xenophobia, and re-segregation. The “culture wars” are resolving in such a way that Christianity will be taught in the public school system, subsidized by tax dollars, and anyone who questions this is branded with the scarlet letter. The poor are becoming poorer, the rich richer, and anyone who says that this is a problem is considered a godless communist. “God helps those who help their selves,” so the saying goes here, and so the Right wing goes on excusing everything from Tom DeLay’s corrupt and despotic rule to Karl Rove’s betraying of a woman agent of the CIA. There are no more scruples in the Bush administration, who feel that God is on their side.ExpensiveThinker

Dribble from the Bibble...
Mic 6:12 For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue [is] deceitful in their mouth. Mat 19:23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. Mat 19:24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. Mat 27:57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple: Mar 10:25 *It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.* Jer 9:23 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise [man] glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty [man] glory in his might, let not the rich [man] glory in his riches:December 7, 2005

Matthew 19:24 means that rich people who hold on to their worldly possesions do not like leaving the stuff behind. And they won't accept the fact that they have to leave it behind. Thus the similie comes in.
Jer 9:23 tells us not to glorify ourselves with our riches, as we need to leave them behind as well.
It's not the money that's the sin, it's the sin to take pride in the money, and to turn away from God because of the money

Thanks for having the courtesy to reply. Nobody's done that in the past -- and if you track my posts over time, you will see they get progressively less patient and more outrageous. Now for discourse. I like how you're educated enough to view the Bible, at least partially, as a historical artifact. If you could interpret the expression "It is harder for a rich man to enter heaven..." as a moment of the times, I wonder why other modern day Christians can't see other biblical interpretations the same way. case in point: http://www.godhatesfags.com/ Anyhow. I only menat trash because, within the constraints of the republican|democrat dichotomy, the *good* parts of Christianity strongly lean toward Democrat. The bad points should be outplaced by the good: If you respect/love your neighbor, why should you *need* to prevent them from [aborting their child] any more than you need to stop them from [murdering anyone else]....ExpensiveThinker

Point In Case
Your personal views are of no importance to me what so ever. Everyone has their own including you and I. Quite honestly, opinions are like butt holes....everyone has one and they all smell. a little jousting among members does not bother me in the least but there needs to be a mental line we all should not cross. A viable line which clearly shows the difference between debating and personal attacks. I realize while discussing personal views that comments can become inflamed due to the passionate beliefs we all have no matter what they are, but that does not and will not excuse the need for members to constantly be aware of how others are interpreting our postings since facial expressions and verbal tones are no longer an issue.December 7, 2005
