I am NOT here to discuss whether or not homosexuality is right or wrong.

Which religions are okay with homosexuality?Voted for by AnthonysGirl.
The Holy Bible "New International Version" 1 Corinthians 6:9 states "Do yuo not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolators nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders (10) nor thieves nor the greddy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." So obviously they are against it... so who isn't?

Wiccans?Voted for by DartOfChaos.
The three major Jerusalem-based religions (Islam, Christianity, and Judaism) are against homosexuality. The only religious groups that are pro-homosexuality are branches of the Wiccan religion. There are possibly more but that is all I can think of at the moment.

Interesting question.....Voted for by BEP-lover16.
That is a good question... I havn't read a WHOLE lot of the Christian Holy Bible about homosexual, And its very unclear if you ask me. As for Wiccan belifs, I cannot say anything because I'm not as familiar with them. However, there's a lot of things in the bible thats isn't very clear and isn't meant to be understood. And quoting a Hilary Duff song, lol, Some things may be Dangerous To Know, and just shouldnt be understood. In other words, I think, from a christian perspective, at least, but we should just accept homosexual people, just because they're a little DIFERENT. Thats all i'll say.

kazrith is right...again lol
the word homosexual wasn't created until the 19th century, infact before that the only people who knew about the existence of gays, were gay people themselves. also, now lets pretend that homosexual offender was the right translation, that obviously doesn't mean all homosexuals. i mean, what if it said heterosexual offenders? would u think that meant all heterosexuals? i think not. if it said that being gay was wrong or being in a gay relationship was wrong the the word offenders would have been left offkeyman7

OK, this is the only verse in the Bible that I really couldn't stop thinking about...being gay and Christian, how could I not worry about it? But here's what I think...the verse talks about people who do those things shall not get into Heaven. OK. But we all do at least ONE of those things during our lives, especially the lying one. So in theory, no one could get to Heaven. But wait! Jesus died for our sins so we could be forgiven and be with God in the afterlife. I'm not saying it's not a sin, because I really don't know. All I'm saying is that gays are accepted by God because of their belief in Jesus. (If they do believe, as I do.)February 18, 2007

lost in translation
So I just came across this site a short while ago but had to throw in my own two cents...If people bother to pick up the Bible (the New Oxford Annotated Bible is a good start) you'll see there's a note for that verse which states that the real translation should be masturbators and male prostitutes (note: nothing about homosexual offenders). Furthermore, people with half a brain will understand that the Bible, like everything else, was written to make a point. It cannot be taken word for word while still maintaining any morality or sanity. For example, the Genesis creation story (written by many people) was not written to describe how the Earth came to be but rather to point out God's presence in the world we see.

Thanx
Yeah, thanks matt for the information. Anyway, verses like 1 Cor 6:9 don't mean that those sins keep you OUT of Heaven. Remember what Jesus said?"The Kingdom of Heaven is within you."--Luke 17:21
So if it's within us, a feeling of being close to God, then all 1 Cor 6:9 is talking about is that when you do those things you won't feel close to God. You'd be "outside the Kingdom." It makes so much sense! How could you feel loved by God and in his Kingdom while murdering someone or cheating on your spouse?
Besides, I feel this verse sums up salvation:
"We have our hope set on the Living God, who is the Savior of ALL men, especially those who believe." (emphasis mine) 1 Tim 4:10
I believe God will save us all, homosexual and heterosexual. But until then, "arsenokoitai" must be translated properly as "male prostitute," not "homosexual."

Depends...
I know of christians who are homosexual. It really depends on how devout you are, how seriously you take the bible, and how you interpret it. Plus, homosexuality has been more common recently than in any other time, and since the major religions usually adapt and overcome when faced with a contradictory modern situation, I think that the church will become more and more tolerant of homosexuality.March 29
