What is existance?

For a while now i've been really thinking about what the state of existing really is. When people used to tell me that I am a figment of my own imagination, I laughed it off like it was a stupid question. Now I'm not so sure.

This has led me to ask the question, is existing memories?

  • Vibration is not sound

There is this old question that you have probably heard once or twice in your life, "If a tree falls in the woods, and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" Usually people make the assumption that if something heavy, a tree in this case, falls it make a very loud sound. I thought twice about it and now i'm not so sure about that answer. If sound is vibrations, than vibrations are just vibrations, until we translate it into sound.

The same priciples can be applied to existance itself.

Let me modify that question. If someone is completly cut off from society, and no one remembers him, did he even exist? I've had a few answers to this question already. One of those really made a good point. They said "If no one remembers him, that doesn't mean that you ca't find his remains." At the time I didn't know what to say. But on the drive home I was thinking.

Just because you find somethings remains doesn't mean that they were ever alive. It sounds rediculous, I know. But if you look for somthing hard enough you'll find it. I think that you find what ever you're looking for not by looking in the right places, but maybe you want want what ever you're looking for in the place that you look.

Now let me present another question to conclude my opinion.

  • good question

Do we exist? I think we are asking the wrong question, bare with me, if something does not exist then where is it, its not there? What is the definition of “not being there” and how far does the whole notion of “not being there” stretch? I.e. if you close your eyes, you cannot see me, therefore I do not exist to you, or maybe I have to get out of this reality, or maybe even this dimension to be considered non existing so Are we saying that if something is non existence, it does not exist in this reality? I believe there is everything everywhere; I don’t believe the term “exist” is valid because it is implying that if an object does not exist, then its simply not there, but for all we know, non existence can be another form of existence, meaning that it exists, we just cross paths with it in any way. If there is another reality or dimension somewhere, were there is intelligent life, will we be non existent to them?
