What causes males to be violent towards women?

i think a lot of it has to do with the way our society objectifies women, as soon as you make someone less than human it becomes very easy to do whatever you want to them.

mot men who abuse women have been abused themselves by their father or even their mother. to be honest almost all the men who abuse women also have a superior complex, meaning they think all women are inferior to them and they deserve to be beat, some were just raised to believe that and some are just psycho and get thrills from it.

Truth is some people are born violent. There are some women who are born violent as well. The people who show violence toward women most likely show it towards men as well, it's just that for the most part women are easier targets then men, though there are some exeptions.

Back to freud: Some of freuds' theories just seem crazy, but there are some theories that just seem to fit perfectly. Whether you like it or not females will make fun of males any way they can whether saying that there not good at sex, their penis is small, their gay, or have erectile disfunction.
But what seems to me is women make fun of males which causes them to become depressed, sad, angry, and just plain hatefull, which causes them to insecure about them selves thus causing them to be violent and hatefull towards women, thus causing men to beat women and so on, although this is only one thing that causes men to be violent towards females, it is the one that causes the most violence.
I'm betting that if every female shut the hell up about making fun of guys that way, violence towards females would be non existant.
And by the way I might be added to the psychotic killers list in the future.

Most men who abuse women do it so that the woman they are with is too afraid to leave them, but that’s after the abuse. It also comes from witnessing abuse to ones mother as a child, that it’s shown as right. It makes them feel in control of their life and so they feel secure about everything.

from persoanl experience it is sometimes because the man feels weak to other men and has to prey on something that can not fight back. i have also found that is could be because they were abused as a child by a trusted adult or even a sibling. some do it for kicks and it turns them on (sick i know). others do it because they can not control their anger. anyway you put it is not right and it should nt happen but it does and it is rare to be able to do anything about it.

My question is why doesn't anyone ever defend men in that situation? Everyone says violence against women is wrong, but no one will stand up for men. And if you look at the facts, women are just as violent as men are, sometimes even more. People are violent for lots of reasons, and it's never going to change. Violence DOES solve things whether you like it or not. Why? Because there are always going to be people in this world who resort to violence.

I hate the way society steriotypes certain situations, as though its always males that are violent towards women. WE ARE BEING FUKCING BRAINWASHED. Don't you think its equally as cowardly for a woman to hit a man, as she knows that he won't be able to hit her back, because of what society accepts.

Basically this issue is one of the creations of the abuse industry, those non-profit organizations that try to win priviledges for one specific group at the expense of others. Women's rights organizations are partly a hold-over from a time when there was an actual legal injustice; when women did not enjoy some rights that are taken for granted today, like voting and owning property. But some of them are more recent creations (since the 60's) started by people who were encoraged by the success of past efforts and are simply trying to make money and win priviledges. This is such an issue that distracts from much larger problems in society. The fact is that men are much more frequently the victim of violent crime than women are. It's too bad that there isn't more of an outcry about this because maybe if the greater pain was remedied then women would be made safer than they would by pretending the problem was only the smaller part that affects them directly.

ever heard of The Green River Killer? He was charged with the murders of 35 women and was suspected to have killed a total of 50 women 15 were never found. the reason he killed these women was because he ws a religous extremist in his own right he killed female prostitutes because they were bringing down society. Ever hear of Buffalo Bill? responsible for untotaled amount of murders. The reason why he killed was because he thought that it was easier to be a female than it was to be a male because lets face it, at a bar men aren’t the ones who decide with what women they go out with it’s the female who decides what random male that is interested in them. Ever hear of Jack The Ripper? was responsible for the murders of 5 women. The reason why he killed was mainly the same reason as The Green River Killer. Ever hear of Adolph Hitler? responsible for the murders of millions! Why did he do this to jews? because he thought of the circumcision to be a barbaric ritual which causes feelings of inadequacy towards women, and if jewish males agree to such a ritual to be performed on there children then the jewish men must be as bad as the women.
So women better be carefull of which male they make fun of because they just might end up killing them from feelings of inadequacy.

I personally think that this is a very broad topic and must be looked at holistically. Violence towards females or sexual coercion can be looked at in an evolutionary perpective in all primate taxa including humans. So why do males need to use threat to control their mates and why do women put up with it? I once heard that is is because of the two sexes different conflict of interests. Males want to mate as much as possible and maximize their reproductive potential but sometimes force is nessecary to make sure sexual access is availible and willingly given up. Females on the other hand just generally want to find and invest in one male who she seems most fit. But once the child is born why still stay with an aggressive male? Statistics show that females with low resource control or low incomming income are more vulnerable perhaps because the male is the sole bread winner and the female depends on him for economic support. In some cases she may have no skills or money so may be afraid to venture out on here own. This becomes even more extensive if the female has no close living social allies or family to come to her aid or take her in. She is literally on her own and this may make leaving much more difficult. There seems also to be a correlate with patrilineal societies for this reason because women have no social or kin ties but the males do making femles second rate citizens and even property. This can be seen in industrialized society's in the form of the mormon religion a patriarchical society where women are denied rights to resources, money, education or power. Because they are so subordinate domestic violence is extremely high. This could also be linked to their practice of polygany another male strategy to maximize reproductive opportunities but can be looked at as emotional abuse towards women making them seem even more objectified. There are probably many factors that cause men to use violence against women and most are probably culturally constructed. Using anthropology and physcology we should untangle these factors along with those that suppress women and make them fearful to leave. Only then can we start to tackle the problem.
