In America today most people, when they think of "hunting," think of the activity as a sport. In indigenous societies, hunting is survival, hunting is spiritual, it is providing for the rest of the community, not just proving what a great hunter the individual (usually but not always a man) is.

The hunt as a journey of becomingVoted for by cafegroundzero.
I would like to explore this topic in a metaphysical and ontological sense, to analyse and role-play the aspects of hunting, of the role of the hunter and the hunted.
I seized on this topic as I meditated on the role of the police officer as hunter, and the criminal as hunted. Of course, there are criminals who are hunters, and their prey tends to be other humans, who are victimized, or attacked in some way, exploited, in the role of prey.
___There is yet another dynamic human interaction, which is, in sexuality, the role of the hunter as Don Juan or harpy, while each liason the prey is the receiver, the more passive one, or sometimes another hunter in the role of "waiting spider," who waits patiently, cunningly while the unwitting "aggressor" hunter blunders into her (his) web.
Incidentally, we have, courtesy of the office of the Lieutenant Governor of Georgia, Mark Taylor, this news bulletin:
FEBRUARY 17, 2005Taylor announces legislation aimed at protecting children from online predators aimed at helping law enforcement officials prosecute sexual predators who prey on unsuspecting children over the Internet. Nearly every day, the (Georgia Bureau of Investigation) receives email addresses of suspected cyber predators from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Because of constraints in our law, the GBI cannot easily obtain the identity connected to the email addresses. Today, we are seeking to fix that,” Taylor said.
“Children who are online are in danger. They might have learned not to talk to strangers on the playground, but what about in the safety of their own home?
