  Do you know what we mean by "women rights" in the first place? We're not asking for special rights. We're asking for the same rights that you men have. Here's a quote from my economic's book (yep still stupid, still at school): "The cost of labour --- Personal factors --- Sex - In many jobs men are paid more than women for doing equivalent work." (© Economic Education 2004) See? There are still inequalities existing between how men are treated compared to women. Sure, it's better now because we've been fighting for our rights. However, we are still not treated equally in this society. And we're not asking to be treated as queens! We're asking to be paid the same as you men! We're asking fairness on society's part. And still here, I speak for the gay population too. We don't want anything more than equality and justice.

  you're right, you are backwards as can be. first off, women have been opressed for as long as the world goes back in time. and they still are. it's easy for you to be against our rights, you're a man. I'd love to see how differently you'd feel if you were a woman. do you know how many women are discriminated against in their jobs simply because they are mothers? just an example. go get your facts straight before you make ignorant statements. as for gay rights, do you even know what they entail? a gay person should be able to hold any job they want because their sexual preference has nothing to do with their job performance. just an example. and it is no one's business if they choose to marry. it does not concern you! when a gay couple is devoted to one another and one of them has to go to the hospital, for example, their partner does not have the same rights and access as they would if they were a straight married couple. this isn't fair. if a gay person wants to settle down with another gay person and have the same conveniences straight married couples have, they should have that "right".

  First of all "amnesias heaven" you need to get off your high horse and understand what I have wrote WHICH YOU apparently do not have a freakin clue. I do not care what your educational level or age are for your comments show you clearly do not know how to read between the lines which is pretty sad. My comments show I clearly believe in EQUAL rights for EVERYONE!!!! In case you have trouble interpreting let me say it again: EVERYONE. My point being there are too many groups attempting to single themselves out as having their rights violated the most. Every single day there are new groups wishing to receive the title as the most oppressed. Well, welcome to the REAL world. Most everyone has their rights in some way or another violated. My point is everyone should have the same rights no matter who you are. Yes, I'm very aware that is not going to happen, probably like your ability to comprehend this post, but there is always hope for such things. For if everyone had EQUAL rights there would be no need for groups to feel the need to single themselves out as more oppressed than others. That is my point. That is it, as simple as it sounds. So in actuality, I was saying, respectfully, that we do NOT have equal rights which I stated should be a STANDARD across the board if it ever has any hope of being fair. -------------------- My advice to you is take the time to understand another's post before going into attack mode my friend. Not only will that save you the trouble of looking like you understand someone when you clearly do not, but it will help others to take you more serisouly. You need to understand on boards you cannot see facial expressions or hear tone of voice. Misinterpretations can take place so easily.

  oh come on bunny, you cannot actually assume that every person is going to have the time to "read between the lines" seriously, you dont right essays to be read between the lines, nor do you write medical reports to be read between the lines. if you post something, you should explain what you are saying instead of expecting the reader to interpret it into how you wrote it. seriously, grow up, there is no need to debase anothers misunderstanding

  oh come on Kazrith, you cannot actually assume that every person does not have the ability to figure things out. If this is true then you, like me and just about everyone else on this board, should stop using sarcasm on any topic or response. I love how you relate a paragraph on explaining my views about equal rights to essays, and EVEN medical reports. I cannot see how anyone could give them the same weight, but it's good to see that you do anyway. That would be very funny if it actually was not so misplaced. I believe what I wrote is easily understandable to anyone of the average intelligence. Seriously, grow up and learn to compare things of equal weight. I appreciate your post though, for I love to start out the day with a nice smile and I can always count on you to give me that wonderful opportunity. Your seemingly caring attitude toward other member's misunderstandings is so evident by previous posts of sarcasm in some of your past topics and responses. Oh, I don't want you to have trouble reading between the lines so let me save you time and trouble by saying it's called sarcasm my friend. Now let me see, what is the word most often used for someone who accuses someone of something but is guilty of the same thing?     There is an old saying: "If you cannot handle the heat then get out of the kitchen." If you call this degrading then that bewilders me. I wish you could have been here when the board was first started. We had some SERIOUS debating going on with members like "Mephisto", "Co-doc", and a few others. Sarcasm was only one of many tools used to get the points across. Talking about debates where blood was drawn, these were it. As bad as that sounds, it was actually fun. There was no name-calling taking place, nor was any of the sarcasm taken literally. We had members who were very passionate about their opinions and were quick to let you know it. What is all this "hurt you", "hurt me" that you are refering to? Sounds like to me my friend you just need to settle down and quit wearing your feelings on your shoulders. You believe what you do and the same goes for me, but that does not degrade you or me in any way. Furthermore, if you think I do not respect you then without a doubt you have totally misread me, for even though I love a little jousting every now and then, I have considerable respect for you. Whether it is seen within my comments actually has very little to do with it. Oh and just for the record, if I did not like you then you would have no problem recognizing it. I would leave no doubt as to what I was actually doing. This was nothing more than a little friendly jousting. tsk tsk, too bad you couldnt see that ---------------------------- tsk tsk I comprehend far more than you realize my friend, but what is understood compared to what is revealed is at the discretion of the poster. --------------------------------------- Posting on a forum can and is sometimes as hard to interpret as real life emotions. Most people expect an angry person to display symptoms of anger, while a happy person should laugh and smile. It makes perfect sense to expect someone very sad to cry, but you know life is not that simplified THANK GOD. It is possible for a angry person to laugh, or a person to be so happy that he or she cries. Emotions are so unpredictable which is a big plus. Thus, we have forums, and what you see is not always what you get. I think a little flavor in your postings every now and then is a great thing. So even though you call this degrading, which is sad, I am merely adding some spice to my post. Too bad you were not here on the old board or you would not have used a word like "degrade" in pointing to this display. I feel rather confident you would have used something like "attack" in reference to the jousting by the passionate members. But, that is okay, for everyone is different and being different is definitely good. So a board can be a source of knowledge but actually it is a pun all in itself.

  Equal rights for all is what the women's rights, gay rights, and other groups were/are all about. In that sense, yes, equal rights for all is good, but some of these posters are what I like to call "feminazis": they believe they should get "retribution" for "hundreds of years of oppression" and blahblahblah. **gag** These people are no better than the KKK or a homophobe. The middle path of compromise MUST be the one we take.

  I completely agree with bobrocks. Yes, life is unfair for women. But guess what, LIFE IS UNFAIR FOR MEN TOO! Infact it's WORSE for men, because very few people in this world even recognize their problems. But no, you women just keep on complaining. It's not like America isn't femininized enough. Feminazi indeed. <_<

  Nefer, do you believe that what you are stating is an unbiased opinion? I think you really should examine it. As a lesbian who works extensively with members of the gay AND straight communities, I have yet to hear of or see a collective opinion of gays and lesbians who want a "bigger slice of pie for themselves". In any setting or sexual orientation for that matter, you're gonna find individuals that do want more for themselves ( gay or straight), but thats on an individual basis. I could sit here and make an argument that its not gays, but "African Americans" who think they should get more because we owe them because of the history of slavery in America. But not all African Americans feel that way. Don't confuse an individual with a group of people.

  I feel you, brother. I'm a Buddhist and a moderate Democrat in a very conservative Christian state (Texas, we just got Prop 2 banning gay marriage passed with 77% voting for it. I was one of few against). What you must go through is similar to what I see every day. WE still have the KKK around down here. They burn some crosses every once in a while, but for the most part have been stopped from violence. Gays aren't openly persecuted as much anymore, but down here it's more of a "don't ask, don't tell". It's depressing sometimes. Hang in there, brother! P.S. I'm a straight male.
