Which parts of the Bible can we trust?

There is overwhelm evidence that proofs without a shadow of a doubt that there are numerous scriptures that will directly contradict another. "If, you believe in some of The Bible then you have to believe in all of it. It's God breathed (inspired) despite the fact that man wrote it; therefore it's 100% devinely inspired. Note that chritianity is the believe in God as not just the Father and the Holy Ghost but as the Son, too...............100% God, 100% Man.

So, given that information.............then, how can anyone believe any part of the Bible that is used to be a weapon for their hatred/ignorance/bigotry................when they should know that God is love and His salvation comes without a prerequiste.................or do they purposefully miss the point of John 3:16? "..........so WHOMSOEVER.........." statement of fact, without regard to any human judgements.

Jesus died on a cross one time and only one time..........you only have to accept Him to your heart once and only once............and then, (by the Baptist believe, at least) you'll always be saved................and what was that scripture that talked about NO POWER and NO AUTHORITY on this EARTH can seperate my Lord's love for me nor deny me my Salvation if I so choose to accept it?

So, any part of the Bible that preaches/teaches/spreads the message of God's love is what should be believed, preached, taught, and should shine forth from us-without us having to say a single word.

Any part that spreads bigotry, hatred, ingorance, and/or tries to control or makes someone submit to fear or because they don't match a certain "despcription" in the Bible..............must be of man..............and not of God.............because is NOT capable of such tyrany or an attempt to make us submit to Him..............He did give us FREE WILL after all.

Remember even Satan can tell the 100% truth and quote Scripture directly from the Bible IF it suits his purposes.............therefore, if man choses pride and power..........he is not preaching/teaching God's love..............therefore, anything that is NOT of God's love is about Power and Control.

"Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely!"

  • Doubt is not an option

First of all, I must ask for any scripture that condradicts another. I have yet to see any, though people say that there is. Second, If you really think that the bible has errors in it, or is completely false, then you must really be dense. Let me give you a few facts. Ceasar's "Gallic Wars" was written from 100-144B.C, but the earliest copies that we have is from 900A.D., a difference of 1000 years, and we only have 10 copies from 900 A.D. Tacitus' Annals were writen in 100A.D. with the earlyest copies of 1100A.D., another 1000 year difference, and 20 copies. Plato's works were written in 400B.C., earliest copies of 900A.D., 1300 year difference, and there are only 7 copies. The New testament, on the other hand, was written from 50-100 A.D, and the earliest copies ranging from 114-200 A.D. and I say ranging because some are fragments (dating to 114) and some are whole books (200). That is a maximum difference of 100, mind you, 100 years. Not only that, but there are over 5500 copies of it from that time.

That means that if you do not believe in the accuracy of the New testament, then you must not believe in the Gallic wars, or Plato, or Tacitus. Also, in those books, there are few to no errors in translation and such, the largest of which are spelling errors. The percentage chance for error drops dramatically when you switch to the facts about the bible. I could go on and on about this, however, I will stop here.

  • The New Testament

Remeber, Jesus was a real man, science believes it. He made thousands of prophecies and the chance of a prophesy coming true is about 1 and a million. He fulfilled 500 of those prophecies. Jesus Was The son of GOD. How can so many people be christians, christians that base their lives of the word of GOD, and recieve The Holy Spirit?

    I could go on forever!

  • It's in the Holy Bible (NIV) then it must be true:

    Romans 14: 23

But the man who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.

    1 John 4:

God's Love and Ours (NIV Version)

7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8, Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 13 We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. 17 In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 19 We love because he first loved us. 20 If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 21 And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.

  • Why Trust a Book

In high school you learn about first-hand and second-hand sorces of information... the bible was writen how many hundreds of years after the fact... and it was writen and re-writen by those with the power of the church or new branch or view of the religion. Not to mention the countless contradictions within its own pages and refrences. Now though i do not share the christian beliefs, and i do hate the church, the basic consept help by many today is something i cannot discourage... that so many people can change there life around just in the beliefe that "god" loves you is somethin i cannot put down, or that many people have a slightly kinderside because of there upbringing withing a church As for the bible its selfs it a book that sould never have had credibility in the first palce, ever!

  • What do you think is right?

I say you should believe in what you think is morally right in the bible. Too many people take it word for word. To me, the bible should be used to teach us values and to show you the right way to live. For example, the stories that Jesus tells in the bible of sowing seeds or of the good samaritan should not be taken literally. They teach a lesson that should help us live together in peace. Yes, it was written by men so will be flawed. Overanalyzing the bible causes it to lose its meaning.

You cannot trust any of the Bible. look the bible is filled with many contradictions not to mention the fact that many of the gospels (i.e Thomas and Mary) were left out of the new testament. Genesis was derived from earlier sumerian and babylonian script (see other comments of mine). However it is not about whether the bible can be trusted. If you beleive in the litteral truth you are wrong. however what can be trusted especially about christ teachings, its about the sentiment its about sacrifice and love. Jesus shows us the way to salvation through these paths, its not about whether you believe if he was the actual son of god or not as i don't think jesus ever makes that claim apart for refering to god has the father which was common practice as you were not allowed to speak gods name. its about following the examples he set. in that you can trust.

  • Only the metaforical meaning of stories

Bible does include a lot of stories about Jesus and as we all know they are nothing but bed night stories. But when these stories were written, their author didnt belive in them, they were just made so that religious simple people would understand the troubles in life, just that those troubles were expressed in a simple way.

  • Not sure that is true

I don't think what bezigrad is saying is true.

Sure the Stories jesus tells are ment to communicate ideas, and they had to be simple because most were to crowds. But they are not just so people could understand the troubles in life, they are communicating a revolutionary idea.

The stories about is life on the other hand are not ment to be bedtime stories, but were ment for 'Those with ears to hear' and were ment to communicate his life. Now i think that alot of the bible has been rewritten and miss translated and alot of other gospels missed out, however to say the original writers didn't believe in them seems flippant in the extreme most of these text were originally written while christians were still being put to death by the roman state, ST. John the Divine who is generally attributed with writting the gospel of john and possibly Revelations was exiled for his belief you don't risk things like unless you beleive in what you are doing.

the bible is the word of god, you must take it all as truth, or none of it. you can't pick and chose what parts of the bible you are going to follow, that isn't following. you might as well be creating a new religion.
