How does one establish Utopia?

For ages man has dreampt of Utopia, a world of equality and serenity. However, thousands of years have passed and still our kind suffer. Why is this?

• Enlightenment

  This is my theory of how to create a peaceful world, it is only a theory. This is my opinion of how to create, not a Utopia but a stable and benevolent society. All other opinions are more tahn welcome. If you can come up with other rules or ideas I may add the best of them to a document i'm writing. I would give credit to you, using your usernames and re-post it for other to see.

  Four Questions To Utopia

  1. How does one satisfy all the World’s needs? 2. How does one unite all with out depriving some? 3. How does one punish with out becoming oppressive or Tyrannical? 4. How does one establish Utopia?

  The Perfect Leader

  1. Avoid violence. War leads to naught but destruction. One cannot force the world into peace, it must come from free will; it must come from with in. 2. Keep modest and open-minded. Empathize with everyone’s needs and wants. Do one’s best to fulfill all. 3. Punish only those truly worthy of punishment. Those who steel, murder, rape, abuse, etc. Punishment is preceded by every kind of mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual help possible. Remember, all people are connected. Their spirit and one’s are all apart of the supreme essence or soul. Violence and death are always a last resort. 4. Educate one’s self with the history of the ancients. Study them and analyze the pros and cons. Who succeeded? Why? Who failed? Why? Take what one has learned and create from that a vision of perfect society. Use the past to shape one’s future. 5. Perfect one’s self. Find spiritual, physical, and mental harmony. Find enlightenment. Once all, body, mind, and soul, are sound bestow one’s wisdom on others. This will be a life long goal and one shall meet with many obstacles. At times, one will become frustrated and the way of enlightenment will seem lost; but this is the norm upon the path of life. It is all right to feel frustrated; no mortal will ever become perfect. But so long as one strives to do Good one is capable of achieving Enlightenment and founding Utopia.

    Blech. I don't get it. "Utopia" is a catchphrase slung about by post-More, pre-1950 lunatic dictators and arrogant know-it-alls on the sidelines. 1. There is no way to please everyone. To 'satisfy the world needs', you must take away from the rich and powerful, who would, in turn, depose and quite possibly murder you. If they don't, then the 'richer' sections of the world who are supporting the poorer parts will get angry and inevitably start a civil war form liberation from your totalitarian government. 2. Through totalitarian government. 3. Totalitarian governments *have* to be oppressive and tyrannical, or else you'll be deposed and quite likely murdered. That is, of course, unless all of the 'money' breaks off into independant countries through civil war. 4. Through an incredible amount of murder and totalitarian government. 5. You didn't mention what this was in your 'questions' section, but I'm assuming you ask about the leader. The leader will have to be ruthless, feared, and constantly well-hidden from potential assassination attempts. Either that, or he'll have to govern over a flock of cross-eyed lemmings. In which case, 'Utopia' is anyplace that has food and no ledges high enough to hurt yourselves on when you fall off of them. 'Perfection' is an illusion, invented by the human survival instinct. We are goal-oriented creatures. As such, we all have our own individual set of ideals which we try to live up to. The key here is 'individual'. My definition of perfection (my 'perfect ideal') is very, very different from a lawyer's perfect ideal. Both are probably very different from your perfect ideal, and the perfect ideals of everyone who reads this. As I've been led to understand, 'enlightenment' has been about the transcendence--not achievement--of our ideals. Is there anything I forgot to disagree with you on? (Edit--I just realized that the five points following your questions weren't responses at all. As such, my "5." is an inclusive response to the entire second part.)
