Should any person have a claim to immortality because they have conceived a child.

  • Should we claim immortality through our children.

Should any person have a claim to immortality because they have conceived a child. Or should they merely think themselves as being donnor of sperm and egg. I'm leaning towards the sperm and egg thing I do not like people riding coat tails.

  • interesting question!

hmm....if you look at the question spiritually and believe in some sort of an afterlife, then having a child wouldn't really have a bearing on your immortality. when you look at it physically, there tiny pieces and parts of you will go on forever, whether through your children or not. obviously, your children will inhereit genes/traits from you that will influence their descendants for a very long time. the other interesting thing is that no matter is EVER created or destroyed. the atomic particles that compose your physical body were once parts of dinosaurs and stars. so really, children or not, at least on some level you are immortal.
