Need of an Integral Philosophy for Social ChangeVoted for by Indian Philosopher.
Social change is a universal phenomenon and it occurs in every society. Change is inevitable and it takes place in all fields. Society means a mass of people living in a particular place with a common interest. The term ‘social change’ is often used to describe variations in, or, modifications of any respect of social process, social patterns, social interaction or social organization. Great thinkers emerged from various societies induce social change. There are many concepts available for social change. But the problem is that they always try to drag the society towards their fundamental aim. The world has seen many reformers from time to time. Some of them have been from political front and others from religious realm. The present world has become a global village due to the growth of information technology. Hence one theory cannot dominate or compel others. We need to find a common, universal, integrated philosophy to guide the entire global society. Individual societies might have their own dogmas, which cannot be replaced. But when they interact with a global surface they need to accept the need of an integral theory and practice. Integral philosophy envelops multiple endeavors of promoting physical, intellectual, moral spiritual and social values. It must be able to cover the entire human condition and the totality of the human personality. Please visit: www.friendguidephilosopher.net

Beyond light. . .
Leadership must be the unified force of people with out selfishness. It need not be dual and it must be united. Let us find liberation in the present world while we are alive. Thank you for your comments Mr.silver Radiance, Please continue and share your views.December 5, 2005
Interesting perspective
Society is always trying to be socially accepting of individuals and their social groups. When a person grows up they begin to come to the conclusion that social change is hard to come by. The reason why that is the case is that people are always trying to be something that they are not. I feel as if when society is shifting from being a morally strident society to a less moral society one is placed in a situation where they have to make a choice. These choices that people make have either a positive or negative effect on how society is viewed. An example of this is how America has changed from the early part of the 20th Century up until now. At the dawn of the 20th Century people were less likely to discuss sex and drugs whereas at the turn of the 21st Century drugs and sex were rather prevelant.December 7, 2005

your words are very true
i completely agree. though i feel that that one basic "overstanding" will actually come down to "religion". kingdoms and countries were built and broken on religion alone. if you look to every war there is usually at least 1 of 2 common factors, money or religion. its amazing to me that we fight over a belief rather than a knowledge. a whole lot of people "believe" a whole lot of shit but nobody knows damn thing for fact, still we scrutinize the next man and call him wrong for not agreeing with a abstract concept that all basicly has the same roots, just different interrpretations. people need to first find acceptance in the differences of others. they act like thoughts and beliefs are contagious and their children will catch a alternate religion. change is going to happen though if the masses do not start finding acceptance the changes will not be for the good.December 7, 2005

Well said
As The Missin Truth says we fight over a belief rather than a knowledge. Knowledge only can lead us towards a peace full co-existence. Religion can not exist without ethics whereas ethics can exist without relgion.December 6, 2005
My aims are not the same as yours.
My aims, my goals are not the same as yours. I do not agree that you and I constitute a we. I do not agree that you and I want or need the same things. I want to persue what I consider important, and far from having a shared philosophy with you, I want to be left alone to do what I want and find my own answers even if you don't agree with the way I live.December 7, 2005

I - We
I and we are first persons in common and no difference. I respect Eye-Beam's individuality by all means and I will try to agree with you by way of leaving you alone as you like. But I will wait for day to be seen in future which would unite our hands...!December 7, 2005

"subject-subject" relationship...
The Problem is that presently every one tries to have a relationship with others as "subject-object" relationship as such every one tries to exploit others. But in reality all are subjects. We should try to understand others' pains and happiness. Then we can develop a "subject-subject" relationship...December 16, 2005

Ethics and Religion
It is true that religion can not exist without ethics and whereas ethics can exist without religion. We can not generalise that all religious people are ethical or all non-religious people are unethical. It is a must for all to be ethical. But the problem is one man's ethics differ from another man's ethics. How to understand which rule has been created by God? How to declare the common Universal ethical codes? While ethics differ from religion to religion...For example: Vegetarianism or Non-vegitarianism... which is right?January 20, 2006

ALL NON BELIEVERS OF RELIGION ARE NOT ETHICAL ?!
Religion can not exist without ethics. (But ethics can exist without religion.(IF YOU SAY THAT ETHICS CAN NOT EXIST WITHOUT RELIGION THEN IT WILL SOUND NEGATIVELY THAT ALL NON BELIEVERS OF RELIGION ARE NOT ETHICAL ?!) Religion has to follow certain absolute truths regarding, world, soul and God. When it speaks about world wheather it is "real or unreal" morality is the must.(Morality in the sense - absolute universal values and not relatively followed customs.)When it talks about the soul, the goals are awareness, consciuosness and realization. Finally it teaches the ways to reach God.The modern religion and the future religion will be the religion of realization and not the religion of mere faiths.February 11, 2006

About values and education
Values are roots of the culture of a nation and guiding principles of life. Values guard the society from degradation of culture. Human Values are related to divine not to the world. Every one of us is well versed with these values. But we apply them in our practical life with less interest. We have inbuilt values. But due to the material life that we lead, they are masked by ignorance. A value is a relationship between an individual and the society. In fact values are the pillars of humanity. Values take more significance. We can understand values in regard to both social and individual. Values are based on ethics. Such ethical values are essential to sustain societies and to generate members to the society with moral qualities. Values are classified broadly under two categories. 1. Moral Values 2. Social Values Both of these categories are inter-related, and one cannot exist without the other. Moral values are personal values, supported and guided by spirituality. Personal values are followed out of one’s own interest in order to achieve personal and spiritual development while social values are cherished and practice to keep the society in harmony. Let us further list out moral values and social values. Personal Values: Most of the personal values are towards the fulfilment of the evolutionary role in man and in life. A man who follows all moral codes becomes human. We can list out the personal values which are moral values based on spirituality. 1) Morality 2) Justice 3) Compassion 4) Sympathy 5) Love 6) Tolerance 7) Equanimity 8) Self - discipline 9) Self - confidence 10) Self control 11) Faith 12) Cleanliness 13) Virtues 14) Duty 15) Simplicity 16) Sublimity 17) Spiritual wisdom, 18) Meditation. Social Values : Unlike moral values social values require more than one person to follow. These values are towards community, society, nation and the world. and are external relationships. These are also closely related with spirituality and morality. Social values are historically maintained, rearranged and modified as per the need of the time. Let us list out some of the social values as follows : 1) Freedom 2) Service 3) Sharing 4) Tolerance 5) Patriotism 6) Secularism 7) Equanimity 8) Universal brotherhood and 9) Environmental cleanliness. Education in Human Values means imparting a process, which inculcates moral, spiritual and social values to the students, while learning at schools or colleges. Value education has the capacity to transform a diseased mind into very young, fresh, innocent, healthy natural and attentive mind. The transformed mind is capable of higher sensitivity and a heightened level of perception. This leads to fulfillment of the evolutionary role in man and in life. Education in human values is based on teachings of moral, ethical and spiritual values, which are essential to develop an individual’s character. But it does not mean a mechanical teaching and learning but of a deliberate cultivation. The present education system is not enough to develop students with respect to moral values. Morality should not be conditional training to students. Moral education involves both making the students to think morally and behave morally in a natural way. It must be developed to cognitive level. A person who behaves morally knows of the moral values in his actions. Hence, moral education is complicated process of teaching values, to make value oriented and to make them emotionally truthful. Value education is an attempt to develop broad mindedness, tolerance and proper social and emotional qualities. It also develops sincerity and responsibility. It gives a chance to emerge with leadership qualities. Value education aims at training the young in the entire realm of values physical, emotional, intellectual, imaginative, aesthetic, democratic, scientific, social, moral and spiritual - which can be pursued by any individual irrespective of his practice of any religion or no religion at all. Please register or login to comment!
