Are dreams just another form of reality in which we can only observe?

what if dreams are another reality, a reality we can only contact and observe through sleep, or maybe for instence, when we dream of ourselves, its not us we are seeing, its someone else in a parallel reality or something like that, mybe that's why we can not influence a dream? and maybe it goes both ways, mybe we are their dreams. what are your thoughts on this? could it be possible?

  • maybe

every once in a while i realize that i am dreaming and i can control what happens (not very often though) also, when im dreaming im not looking in on the dream from a third person perspective,im actually taking part in the dream. so maybe its an alternate reality where you can temporarily possess your duplicate in that reality and you are given the powers to manipulate everything. who knows. that could be true.

  • yummy.

Space and time are infinite. Anything that can exist will exist eventually. It's only a matter of probability. We are viewing in dreams that which is, but is not yet, and is not anymore, but will be, and is, but is elsewhere. If only we could evolve more quickly to intuit the feeling of probable realities to predict the future, and evolve to the point of being able to alter probable realities by intuiting this, and evolve to a God-like state by being able to omnipotently control our space/time environment... Yes... Actually, it has been often documented that intense focus, desperate moments, and extreme amounts of meditation can cause effects similar to this, interpreting / predicting probable futures, controlling future circumstances, etc. I've experienced it, to small degrees. ..."A man amongst gods, God among men..."

  • hmmm...

Possible, but highly improbable. The dream state in REM (rapid eye movement) sleep is an extention of the human mind into what we can imagine, not simply bound by reality. How else do we explain Salvador Dali, Herzog, and others who induced themselves into a concious dream state (i.e. hallucinations)?

I think its a form of possible premintion, i think we see what could be if we make it that way i also think we maybe aware of other spirits around us when we are asleep

  • Disconnection

I've felt before sucha disconnection with my body..like I was just observing this creature I inhabit... It was very interesting. How what we think is reality might not be as "real" as we once thought. Also.. about the whole dream and different reality..it could be possible because the brain is very very powerful.

  • Well...

I think sometimes it depends on the person, who they are, what they feel. And how they dream. Anything is really possible. Different reality...definatly possible...There are things we may never understand. Things we wont. And things we think we do but we really don't. I suppose this is another one. And if you ever truly understand it..well call me. But really I think so.

  • Maybe

I have a friend who thinks a bit like that, if you havn't already read a book called illusions by Richard Bach, in his books he decribes dreams as a projection of ourselves onto another plain. But, at the same time its just a dream and whether it is or not is entirely irrelevant to life.

Those kind of dreams are called lucid dreams by the way
