Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles, And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;

Hamlet was contemplating taking his life, yes. It is NOT about suicide. It is about his (and just life's) hardships "Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune." and if death and the unknown would be a better option- To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub; For in that sleep of death what dreams may come... But that the dread of something after death, The undiscover'd country from whose bourn No traveller returns, puzzles the will And makes us rather bear those ills we have Than fly to others that we know not of?" So i believe Hamlet is not comemplating to live or to die but if death is a better option than living and if it were WORTH it. Clearly he figures out himself it's not.

Hamlet is talking about killing himself. To be, alive, or not to be, dead. that is the question, live or die.

Here's the question.Voted for by magicpie325.
Hamlet is questioning whether or not to kill his uncle, not himself. The dilemma of murdering his uncle is what sparks Hamlet's own questioning of existence.
