Some science for you all19% Voted for by DryIce808, cosmosis, Weydon, AgelessFallenOne, Johndeereisqueer. (7 total)
How ignorant people can be. Well I have posted this on several other pages where people think that their opinions mean more than scientific fact. Well here you go.
First of all, sexual behaviour is determined while still under fetal development. How it works is this:
Testosterone is converted to Estrogen in the brain by an enzyme called aromatase. This estrogen in the brain during fetal development causes male sexual behaviour. Estrogen cannot freely enter the brain, because of a specific protein called, alpha-fetoproteins. Therefore, only testosterone can enter the brain, not estrogen.
So, males produce a significantly larger amount of testosterone than do females. Therefore, females do not have very much conversion of testosterone to estrogen in the brain. Also, since the alpha-fetoproteins bind the rest of their estrogen, females do not get much estrogen in their brain at all. Thus, females develop female sexual behavior. Males have a lot of testosterone, and therefore convert a lot of testosterone to estrogen in their brain. Now, here is where I talk about where things can go wrong. If a male has defect in his aromatase enzymes in his brains, he may not get enough estrogen in his brain. Similarly, if the male does not produce enough testosterone during this fetal period, he will have the same problem. This problem is the development of female sexual behavior. Many men who have this problem are physiologically just like any other male, but, have female sexual behavior. They are attracted to males and act, often, like females in their manarisms and their speech.
The same thing can happen to females. If a female has a defect in her alpha-fetoproteins or produce more testosterone than normal during this fetal period, they will develop male sexual behaviour.
I hope this clears things up for all of you out there on how being gay is not a choice and is natural, especially for you ignorant raging homophobes. Good day.

people don't choose to be gay16% Voted for by cosmosis, sinful-cinnamon, normality, DryIce808, AgelessFallenOne. (6 total)
did you as a heterosexual choose your sexuality? did you wake up one day and say "hhhmmmmm....do i want to be attracted to guys or girls...i'm gonna have to think about this for a while, oh what the heck, im gonna start liking girls from now on" i doubt that you did that. so if you as a heterosexual didn't choose your heterosexuality why do heterosexuals believe that a gay person chooses their sexuality?
also, who in their right mind would ever choose to be gay with all the anti-gay hatred floating around everywhere. in the US alone (where i live) it is illegal to be gay and in the military, or gay and in the boyscouts, in alot of states-gays cant adopt children. in other places (like virgina) a person can get kicked out of an apartment or get fired from their job if they are found out. and the most antigay place is HIGHSCHOOL. it is impossible to spend a day in a highschool and not hear things like "dude...thats so gay" or "your such a faggot" and in other countries (like iraq) you can get executed for being gay. so while there is no "conclusive scientific study" logic dictates that no-one chooses to be gay.

Socrates liked boys, too.11% Voted for by gmr2broadway, bob2314, aria94, cosmosis.
Did you know that in ancient Greece, love between man and a woman was considered the lowest form of love? Relationships between men were regarded as superior, including all physical aspects. So, I guess you believe that Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, and all of the other brilliant men from back then are rotting in hell, because they all had sex with men.

HOMOSEXUALITY A CRIME???11% Voted for by a woman to love, cosmosis, normality, bob2314.
I BELIEVE THAT EVERYONE HAS RIGHT TO LIVE AS THEY CHOOSE. NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO JUDGE PEOPLE FOR WHO THE SLEEP WITH. HOMOSEXUALITY IT'S NOT A CHOICE PEOPLE ARE BORN THAT WAY. WOULDN'T IT BE EASIER TO GO ALONG WITH THE FLOW. IT TAKES GUTS TO BE DIFFERENT TO STAND UP AND SAY THIS IS ME , I RESPECT THESE PEOPLE. COULD WE ALL THOSE WHO ARE"HETEROSEXUALS" HAVE THE GUTS TO SAY LOOK THIS IS ME. WE HAVE TROUBLE EVEN SHOWING EACH OTHER LOVE AND EMOTION. SO LETS JUST LIVE AND LET LIVE.

Okay then.
"Prove to me that homosexuals AREN'T born homosexuals. And not some random Bible site, I want a CONCLUSIVE scientific study."
...
I'm not going to be as ignorant to say "You won't find one, because being gay ISN'T a choice." because I realise that for obvious logical reasons I cannot condemn someone elses claim to be false, for having no proof, and simultaeneously conclude that my opinion (equally devoid of proof) is therefore true.
...
However, I would like to recommend this as interesting further reading, as it presents a more complex argument about the biological factors of sexuality.

Besides, even if there were "a CONCLUSIVE scientific study" and there probably is, would you *want* to believe it? I think not. Science has drisproved various ignorant and biggotted philosophies, yet ultimately;
"He who has ears, let him hear." (only, of course, "If you are willing to receive it")

Maybe not..
`laughs` I must ask you sir, do you believe in freedom and freewill? Because if you do, then you will recognize that our actions sexually (as with all actions) are submissive only to our free will. If this is true then acting in a homosexual or heterosexual manner merely means that we are freely choosing to do so. This choice can be a good choice or a bad choice, better or worse, as all choices can be. So being gay is very much so a choice. You might have a bunch of hormones telling you what to do, but that makes no nevermind. The way we respond to them is still our choice. If I have a disorder which places an excess of testosterone in my system, I am much more likely to want to fight when provoked. But I still choose whether I fight or not. In the same sense as I am not a fighter until I decide to fight, a person is not a homosexual until they decide to be homosexual. So in conclusion, if what you say is true and being gay is not a choice because of the chemicals in our brains, then we possess no free will at all. We are merely automatons that wander about under the guidance of our hormones and chemicals within our minds. But that is obviously not true. My mind and body may tell me to eat, but I often choose not to. My mind and body often tell me not to smoke tobacco, but I often do. We make decisions that conflict with our bodily chemicals all the time. And so it stands clear that it is not the chemicals that make us what we are. It is the free choices made by us that determine what we are.April 10, 2006
