How many here have wondered what Wiccanism is and would like to learn about it?

I am a wicca and I get questioned often about whether it is devil worshipping or black magic. It is not, in fact it is quite the opposite. Wicca is a religion that’s been around since before Christianity.

  • WICCA

I am a Christian, but in all my readings the area that I find makes the most sense to me is Celtic Christianity. It is a blend of the old celtic beliefs and Christianity. I think that we can learn alot from the ‘old’ religions. I truly believe that God gave us those beliefs…but like all ‘religions’ they got twisted in some way by people. I don’t have to look beyond my own ‘religion’ to see how that happens. Would I be interested in learning about Wicca? Yes I would.

  • Desire to understand

I'm all for learning about any religion. I want to understand why people believe in these things, like gods or magic. The best way to start is to learn about their beliefs.

  • earth based

wicca is a religion based upon nature and of the earth yet i run accross people who seem to think that wicca is branch of satanism. that of course is incorrect, pagan is the side of wicca that is darker and promotes spells and harm towards others, but that is hardly what satanism is. me , i like to just believe that this religon can give me peace of mind and not follow a life of hurting others with my god.

  • Always Learning

I am Wiccan and love to learn new things about my chosen religion. The learning never stops with each person I encounter or book I read I’m introduced to new ideas and ways. I find that fascinating and exciting.

  • (insert clever title here)

I've read a few books on it. Over the past few years, my interests (desire for learning more and believing)have come and gone. Despite how stupid, ignorant, immature, or any other thing you may think of,this may sound, religion really isn't my thing. I've tried Christianity and i've learned of Wicca, but nothing seems to do what religious people says it does. I respect you though for having a religion and believing in it. When I was learning and pretty much believing, I was happy (you could say) and I felt content and I hungered for more knowledge. Then, something snapped in my mind and I fell into my lack-of-religion pit. I have a few friends who are Wiccan. Although I claim no religion, and believe in nothing really, I do find reading about Wicca very interesting.

  • Actually

What I'm most curious about is whether or not any given person who claims to be Wiccan follows true Wicca or the common fad form. Or any other half-assed variation in between.

It’s not exactly Wiccanism. It’s just plain Wicca.

On myself, I find the path of Wicca right for me. And yes, I would like to learn more. I like to clear things with Christian friends, by asking their opinions, but I don’t tell them I might one day walk down this path myself.

  • Dear Wolf Dreamer,

You are so correct about how Wiccans are accused of worshipping an entity we do not believe in and that we practice dark magick. It's so unfortunate. I would like to point out though that Wicca is under 80 years old. WITCHCRAFTE is pre-christian though. Wicca is a 'new' way of celebrating 'old' beliefs. Blessed be.

  • Christian That Wants To Practice Wiccan

I am a christian who is open to all religons. My family however really is not. They do not believe in Wiccan and well say what everyone else says that has something bad to say. I live 15 minutes from Salem Ma., I always went there when I was younger and now. I have been to circles I have friends who are wiccan. My question is can I practice it being catholic, can I study two religons? I would not consider myself a huge cathloic like the rest of my family, I do not go to church and all the things a catholic is supposed to do. But I have children now and I want to raise them catholic, I do want to start taking them to church. I do not want to tell anyone about this cause I can imagine what will happen, so I guess I want to study it privately? I know I sound real confused and I am not making sense to most of you, but advice is needed! Thanks!

Wicca, in a nutshell, is an earth-based religion. It focuses primarily on the worship of the Great Mother, earth being a manifestation of The Great Mother. Wicca teaches that morals and ethics are relative and tolerance. Witchcraft is also utilized here. However, only magic that can help people can be used, no black magic. The wiccan Rede forbids you do anything that will harm others and/or yourself. By the way, Wicca is not Satanism, it is somthing entirely different. In wicca there is not concept of a devil or supreme evil being.

  • Just a thought.
If Wiccans worship the things of nature and it was God who created all things, then aren't Wiccans just worshipping the creation and not the Creator? It seems to me that by elevating the creation to godly status, you are diminishing the true God.
