Murder is considered the forcible taking of anothers life. However in some cases, such as war or self-defence it is not considered murder. So where is the line drawn?

Well I believe that murder is murder no matter what, but the goverment decides to call it different things when they agree with it (like Vietnam, 911 etc). It is forcibly taking the life of another. But yet again, if you think about it, if someone asks you to kill them you are still murdering them, so in a way it's 'taking someones life when it need not be taken'. As if you kill in self defence, you had a need to do so, so it is classed as manslaughter. I think the point i'm trying to make is though in cases like war, they decide to call it self defence, or something like it. Which is pretty ridiculous because not all of them are attacked when they kill innocent people in the streets but that is the way the government decides to cover it up.

Murder is murder.Voted for by tycho-D.
Word play means nothing, because in the end it all means the same. If you lie, no matter the reason, you are a liar. The same is true when you take the life of another. There may be justified murder, but it is still murder.

All the same?Voted for by strawberry gashes.
This is a good point, Are you going agaisnt God if you flick the switch in an execution? If you hit someone in your car? is it viewed the same as if you pull the trigger point blank? How does God view Murder, is there different serverities?

Self Defense, Wars (genocide), Vendetas, etc = MurderVoted for by Mila7.
Whether or not you where defending yourself, avenging your being, or participating on a war, you have committed murder, taking the life of somebody else is terrible indeed although, there are different views to it. Nevertheless, if you have killed a man, your conciense will nag you constantly.
