In Gensis, when God the creator, created the world, they say he gave man free will; this was in order for God to bond and have a relationship with his creations. But, why does God intervene with his creations and perform what we call 'miracles'?

Miracles have nothing to do with God giving us free will. You must remember, God is love, and God giving us the gift of free will is God giving us the ability to truly love. If it wasn't for free will, we would be no more than dogs who "love" their owners. However, the dogs have almost no other choice but to love their owners, provided the owners love them back. We would be like a doll that when a string is pulled, it repeats "I love you." over and over and over again. Free will allows us to TRULY love one another and God.

Well, God gave us free will so that our love for him will be real instead of forced. Completely logical.
What about miracles? Well, that would depend what kind of miracles. Healing miracles are because God knows that the people aren't ready to go home, or because he has more plans for them. I don't think there is a such thing as a harmful miracle. Miracles are only to keep God's plan on track.
I don't want to go off topic, but I want you to know that this world is not our home, but a preparation for the next(heaven). God performs miracles so we have time to do what we need to do to be ready for his everlasting kingdom. Of course, not everyone gets miracles, but those with enough faith and God's will in mind do. Doesn't mean you get everything you want, just means that God will provide what you need when you need it. Make sense?

Why give free will and perform miraclses?18% Voted for by sky black, Homefry.
I don't believe in God, but the topic does somewhat interest me. I don't believe that God gave us free will, I believe its a punishment that was given to us when we were thrown from the Garden of Eden. This is why God performes miracles!

I'm agnostic but; If God Did create mankind, and did give us freewill, it seems he did so to induce life. Without good & evil we may aswell not live, as we would live a systematic & robotic life. If we had no choice, life wouldnt have any meaning. (not to say life's meaning is to chose, just saying that as far as my knowledge can see, we are here to attempt to enjoy life, without choice, i dont think i would have the opportunity to do this.) If God wanted to create legions of followers, he wouldve stripped us of free will and made us all senile catholic fundamentalists

So far everyone has explained miracles as an act of love. So they might be, but that doesn't preclude the fact that they could indeed counteract the gift of freewill. In fact, since God set up the system of the universe, and made it pretty self-sufficient, there is no immediate need for intervening. And, a miracle is an intervention into the natural order. Water doesn't randomely turn to wine, loaves of bread don't happen to multiply at any given time. If either of these were true, we'd no longer have world hunger, but we would most definetly have to deal with world drunkeness. Since neither of these are true (for the most part) we know miracles defy the natural order of things. And in general, that is all they do. Defy nature. They are supernatural in the fact that act in ways above and beyond nature (could I be more redundant?). And since nature does not have free will, for otherwise science couldn't exist, miracles don't interfere with our free will. Really, if you look at the ten plagues cast on egypt, God definetly didn't mess with free will. He made it very obvious what He wanted, and yet he instead of forcing the Pharoe to free HIs people, he simply used a tremendous source of power. And not a single one changed the Pharoe's mind for good. God intereferes with nature, not with free will.

let me get this straight. God gives you free will to do what pleases god. Does this sound like free will?
