Why point out the negatives in yourself?

  • Improve

You point out the negatives in yourself, or at least REALIZE them, so you can improve upon yourself by ridding yourself of those negatives. You’re not trying to attain perfection; you’re just trying to make yourself a little better.

And there is NOTHING wrong with that.

  • Understanding yourself

There is nothing wrong with acknowledging the faults in yourself. To do otherwise is to deny who you truly are. To find true peace you must realise that you are a being made up of light and dark, positive and negative, good and bad.

  • Its all in the balance

I think it necessary to point these out to myself as much as my strengths to stay balanced. I don't really see it necessary to burden other people with, unless I think they can take it correctly and help me with it. Maybe one day, after fixing all the negatives, there won't be any left to point out.

  • Hhhumm

maybe you do it because you are depressed or want attention. Either way, constantly pointing out your negatives will not get you the attention you ultimately wish to receive in the long run.

  • There's always something..

Pointing out the negatives in yourself to others is stupid because most likely, they’ve already seen it or already know them and making it horribly obvious makes you seem even more less. It makes a person seem as though they’re screaming for attention and sympathy. Why would anyone want to put themselves in that position? Why not show how great you are or can be? Negatives can be cancelled out by great positives. It just tends to overshadow because that’s all you’re allowing it to do. If you seriously cannot find one great thing about yourself, ask me and I’ll be honest. There’s always something. And if for some reason, I cannot give you one, that only means I need to get to know you better.

  • for support

so that we re told that its not that bad, so that someone else can give us the approval that we need that we re not that bad, when of course we should realise that ourselves, because no matter what, if we dont believe it ourselves, then no one else we ever believe it either

  • Perfection

Perfection is a thing that everybody should strive to achieve. There is no definition for perfection that can fit every single person like a glove, but everybody should try to fit themselves their own glove of perfection. It keeps the world going and it keeps people from turning into lazy sloths. If a person has a goal to work towards, such as one more thing needed to gain perfection, things get done. The only way to keep the world going are the people who strive for perfection.

  • Negatives are provoked

Bringing out the negatives in yourself are provoked by everyday life. Especially in America. The reason most teens and young kids point out the wrongs in themselves is because there is such a demand for perfection and being a certain way that seems right for society. People bring out the negativity because it is provoked by surroundings.

  • But...

I agree with some of what you’ve said but not all. I think you have to know and accept the negatives about yourself in order to see the positives. Also don’t look at the negatives as negatives as such. For example say you’re really rubbish at sport and you know that you are. Don’t say “oh i’m rubbish, i’m rubbish,” say, “i could be better at sport.” Because the chances are believing the negative has caused it to come true. If you change the negative to a “you could be better,” in some cases that just might happen, you might get better. However if not, don’t dwell on the things that are wrong, just accept no one is pefect and that you do have a lot more positives about you, you just daren’t admit it. That’s the reason friends and family stick by you. They realise this and only look to the positives, it doesn’t matter about anything else, you’re you.

  • AWARENESS

TO RECOGNIZE THE ERROR OF OUR WAYS. IT IS TO HUMBLE ONESELF, IT IS THE DECIDING FACTOR THAT MAKES US BETTER PEOPLE. TO BE AWARE OF OUR IDIOSYNCRASIES BE IT POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE ELEVATES US TO HIGHER AWARENESS OF SELF.
