Addicts & Dealers

I find it difficult to understand why I (an addict) goes to jail for using drugs, because I am addicted to them... but the dealers who sell those drugs to me and to countless others walk the streets each day...
Does anyone feel the same? Does anyone think the system needs to be changed? Does anyone walk in my shoes?

Those with the money rub shoulders with those that run the world, and make strong alliances. Dealers are dealers because they know people, and because they're the best salespeople out there, especially to keep themselves out of trouble. Sound familiar? What do politicians do, that salespeople do? They sell and market their image. The same applies to our very nature as a species. We evolved as social creatures, developing language in the process, for the strength of forces in numbers. They are at the top of the evolutionary chain, thus they deserve to be where they are, as do you. In so many words, you have been unable to evolve past the point of addiction, and so you are not one of the alpha males, so to speak. I hope you see this as inspiration for your own positive self-growth. I went through the same thing, and for five years, I regularly consumed near-leathal quantities of cocaine, oxycontin, oxycodone, percocet, vicodin, morphine, opium, etc. I was young, suicidal, and full of self-pity. I evolved. I grew up. I suggest you do the same.

Well, I agree with Linda King USA. It is a bunch of crap that the user gets stuck away in jail, while the main reason they are in jail is till roaming the streets. It isn't a users vault if they get addicted. Yes, on some level they hold responsibility for trying it. But think. Who got them to try it? The dealer. Therefore, it only makes sense that the dealer should go to jail. Put the user in jail, you aren't solving more than one problem. Put the dealer in jail, and you solve 20 or 30 problems. And most dealers I have seen (and I have seen A LOT of them) have dipped their hand in the company pot, if you know what I mean. I have seen some pretty strung out dealers, but they don't get busted NEARLY as much as the users. Yeah, they get narked, but that really is their fault. Keep track of your clients. one of them gets out of prison or rehab, don't deal to them any more.

well, this is how it works in my town. Dealers arent put away because they keep the money circulating throughout my town. If we didn't have that, people would have to do actual work to keep this town alive. Also, the dealers have more friends and more people to back them up than the addicts do, so fear is a big part of it to because the police realize that these dealers think they've got nothing to lose. Also, an addict is more likely to snitch than a dealer. There are a lot of reasons, and it's stupid because everyone should have equal treatment.

Dealers aren't addictedVoted for by kristenlianne.
Most people dealing drugs aren't addicted and strung out. People who are under the influence of drugs, have tendacies to break the law, and get caught with internal possesion. It is just a matter of opinion on dealers getting caught. Dealers get narked on everyday when one of their own clients, who got busted, or just got out of rehab, nark on them. Maybe there are just more sellers than there are users. The sober ones tend to have more comman sense, then the ones under the influence aren't very slick and just can't get away with breaking the law.

yeah... That way the cops know there is always someone to pick on and bust and keep in jail... If they bust the dealer, it cuts off their subjects. However you shouldn't do coke anyway, it aint good... Just smoke pot and you'll be alright.

Peace is fleeting
Say all this to the DEA. They use undercover agents who integrate themselves into the dealers life, gather as much evidence as they can, and put the guy away for good. It takes awhile to build up all the evidence, plus no smart, big time dealer deals directly. They have a chain of command, one deals to the one below him and so on and so forth. Do you know how hard it is to catch these guys? Especially since they are just coming through the border with such ease or are dealing from across the border where USA has no juristiction. Of course some DEA agents do get pay offs, but there's corruption no matter where you go. Also, I have to say this, I was an addict for a few years so I do know a bit about this. No one forced me to try pills or smoke some pot. No one forced me to do any of that, I made that decision and I got hooked, again my fault. I know I was addicted and there wasn't much I could do but get a fix but that is breaking the law and if I had ever got caught then that was just my shitty luck. Lastly, our biggest problem isn't guns and cars, its the people who operate them. I saw this on a shirt and have adopted it as my motto, "If guns kill people, then pencils miss spel words, cars make people drive drunk, and spoons made Rosie O'Donnell fat."December 5, 2007
