Well, congratulations sir.28% Voted for by Battlecry, WallyVanMart, madhatter8989, Temprance.
It says in older translations, 'Thou shalt not murder' murder is defined as the killing of another human. As you know, the bible is someone 'lost in translation' and that is why I read the oldest versions available.
Man was always allowed to eat plants, and eventually allowed to eat specific types of meat, and after Christs sacrifice, we are now allowed to eat pretty much everything(except blood, fat, or human flesh). If you know the verse where it says you aren't allowed to kill plants, then I would like to see it.
So therefore, if you feel guilty and you think that killing plants and animals is a sin, then I suggest that you either reconsider, or obey your beliefs and starve to death - but I would rather that you reconsider.

So we can't kill animals or plants, we can't can't kill ourselves or eachother.. so according to Christianity the only choices we have are to starve to death, or kill God?r14% Voted for by LoveMeOrNot, Arithni.
It always perplexes me to see that Christians (and the other major religions for that matter),while embracing whole-heartedly, and too often to the point of war, the aspects of their faith that they currently find suitable, they seem to simply ignore other aspects. An example of this behavior would be the commandment "Thou Shall Not Kill." It does not simply state "Thou Shall Not Kill Humans." In any case, it appears to be acceptable to break God's sacred cammandment to kill in a war. Or is this simply due to millennia of kings and tyrants convincing the average man so? If we really follow this commandment not only do we stop slaughtering animals... we cannot kill plants... as you read your body is killing off microscopic bacterial scum in your mouth, eye, etc. So where do we draw the line? does this commandment evolve with our society? maybe Moses' people couldn't have survived without meat 5,000 years ago, but we certainly can.

God gave us the animals to eat after noah14% Voted for by Jesusquest, Arithni.
After Noah's worldwide flood, man was given the right to eat meat. The bible also says that the reason you shouldn't kill man is because he was made in god's image. Animals weren't so we don't have to worry about it.

Food is a Gift14% Voted for by WallyVanMart, Arithni.
God gave us plants and animals as a gift. At creation He told Adam and Eve that they could eat of any tree in the garden. Later man was allowed to eat many other foods. Jesus himself ate fish and bread. And if you do look at the original text, "Thou shalt not kill" is really "Thou shalt not murder," as Battlecry said.

A thoughtVoted for by Indifferentopinion.
this comment is referring to the killing of Jesus, the son of christ (my P.O.V) and basically i disagree. Of course The killing of christ (if occured, i'm agnostic) did occur, it was nontheless an atrocity against mankind, an act of the most trecherous sin HOWEVER; was his death not to prove both that he was the son of God and that God would not accept such crimes? If this is true, then This act of Murder was an enlightening one, upon the wider society, teaching the people that even a monarch can be wrong and to make individual decisions on moral.

Predators hunt and prey get huntedVoted for by popat.
sir what i dont understand is "who is jesus christ to decide what we have to eat?", afterall he is a human being underneath all that hype. This is sick to say we can eat only certain types of meat and all..because killing is killing and thats it.To say that we cant eat human meat just becuse they are our kind is wel and truely "SAD".who are we to say that God gave us the animals to eat after noah?Goes to show that there is only on thing that runs this world POWER,not justice ,not virtues ,not morals.what makes you think that jesus can get away with DOUBLE STANDARDS?
Predators hunt and prey get hunted and its gonna be that way. AND to whether we shoud starve to death "DONT" - because we're lucky ,we're "POWERFUL" and we have made our own lame laws to suit ourselves,to shield ourselves. IT'S A MATTER oF SURVIVAL AND NOTHING ELSE MATTERS. Hail da vinci code.

DeathThe hebrew word for living thing is nephesh chayyah. (Plants are nephesh chayyah, and thus aren't alive) Plants aren't alive in the same sense as other living things. It doesn't have blood. But all animals that have blood are alive. liviticus 17:11 says the life of creatures is in the blood. Genesis 9:4 also says blood is connected ith life. all plants, single cells organisms, and anyother non "nephesh chayyah" isn't really alive in the biblical sense. But alive only using the definitions that falliable men has made.Voted for by Doom Pickels.
But exodus 20:13 and Deuteronomy 5:17 says don't murder. Numbers 35:30 says a murder is someone who kills a person (or someone also in the image of God)
So killing anything other than a "living" (The bible's veiw of living) human is all right.
Before the flood of Noah (Noe), there was enough variaties of plant life in order to give animals and men all the nutrients that they needed to live off of. AFter the flood, a mass amount of plants would've died. Making it impossible to get the nutriets we needed unless we ate animals too (People back then probly didn't know as muc about vitamins and minerals, but they were geniuses nontheless) Now, man knows what foods has what nutriets, and we have have a balanced diet without killing animals. But God still gave us the ability to eat them. Because not everyone has acess to plant life.
