Noticed how so many christians (not all) say being gay is wrong? i just thought this was funny as so many clergy members are gay, i dont see why so many people think that theyll catch the gay zombie disease and start buggering each other, and that and gay person will try and have sex with them, mate if girls wont touch you what makes you think guys will?

i have noticed that and i am confused about it myself. i don’t understand how they can be again gays and still have gays within their church, it just doens’t make any sense. i also don’t understand why people are homophobic, you won’t turn gay if you talk to a gay person and if you think you will you need to go to the loony bin!

I have noticed that a number of people on here hold the position that disagreeing with homosexuality, yet not lashing out against gays in the church is hypocrisy. This seems terribly misguided if not downright wrong. If one truly read Christian doctrine, then one would understand that Christians believe no one is perfect. A true Christian would not view him or herself as above a homosexual, as he or she would recognize that he/she is guilty of sin in some form as well. Furthermore, it doesnt sound like the Christian response to exclude someone from a religious community b/c of a single vice. If any of you anti-Christianity folks are attacking people for not pinning homosexuals as evil people in general because of one sin, or for not rejecting them because they are not perfect, then you have set up a straw man, and you are not attacking Christianity at all, but some far easier target that you have fashioned in your own anti-religious dogmatism.

So many say the Bible holds the word of God, but I really can’t believe that with so much anger towards the gay society, as well as non-christian society. I think of the Bible as more of words passed down through history by men, as a way to live our lives more carefully. God, though, is a completely different subject. I believe that if God is such a great, mighty, all-knowing and all-understanding being, then he will understand that people are going to be different in so many ways and beliefs. To me, God wouldn’t say that believing in other Gods or being gay is wrong. People will believe what they want, and we may all learn truth after death… or maybe not, who knows? Anyways… hope you get my point.

If you’re singling out Catholicism, then my response is that it’s warped to begin with. It’s pretty much the king of Christian denomitations that promote things that are not even in the Bible. Catholocism has entertainment value, but other than that, it’s a cock-up.
Now, on the matter of homosexuality and the Bible, the thing is that the Bible doesn’t object to an emotional relationship between members of the same sex. The only thing it presents any objection to is actual sexual activity between them.
As a note, I’ve noticed mention only in regards to males, but that would not strictly mean it wasn’t intended towards females as well. Maybe someone else knows more than I do.

Homosexuality is not immoral, but is it logically incompatable and logically useless. It serves no end than one person’s selfish needs. The church has always had shaky foundations. As someone already mentioned it went back as far as the pagans. Upon forcing Christianity on pagans from all over Europe they accepted parts of Christianity. German and Greek cultures actively practiced homosexuality. Germans of course moved into Britain and France (Saxons, Angles, and the Franks).
There was no one putting a stop to pagan beliefs for a full 700 years. This is when the major heresies began all over Europe. In order to maintain the structure of the church they had to make small concessions, but took out all pagan rituals.
Leading into today these shaky foundations are still there. The problem is a 100-year old man with Parkinson’s Disease is supposed to fix all of these problems. The church has always taken in criminals and given them sanctuary, they do the same with their own. The church IS actively trying to fix these problems. They have found roughly 3,000 homosexuals priests and have put them all into therapy in an attempt to cure them of this “evil.”
If I say that it is wrong to kill and then my son kills someone, it does not mean I was wrong to say that it was wrong to kill. Merely it means that my son does not know it is wrong to kill. Priests can be gay and at the same time the faith can profess to it being wrong. For priests who do it have sick problems in their heads that need to be sorted out before they can actually rejoin the faith. My priest back home, as nice of a guy as he was, did rape many boys and is being counciled and may never return to the church.
Homosexuality is immoral on the grounds of logic alone. Kant is the only person to call homosexuality immoral based on the illogical nature of it. In this action it does not generates. If it maintained neutral of change it would not matter. But it in fact degenerates a person as it only takes energy away from them. If that energy had an end product it would not be so wrong, but it has no end product other than a person’s selfish needs.
Utilitarians also tend to think of it as the least moral form of sexuality. Morality in terms of utility is that it creates the maximum amount of pleasure. With a man and a woman pleasure is created in the act, in the thought, and in the creation of a child. Whereas with two men or two women it is merely in the act.

When I was studying the foundations of christianity and trying to figure out if it was a “real” religion or not, (it seem strange to have to force a God concept on a people), I realized that Christianity the way we practice it has been paganized by the romans who where trying to figure out a way to get the pagans to do what Constantineople said…The pagans were (a. non-christians; b. regular folk, most illiterate; c. into some kinky shit) Well, through the years the kinks have worked their way into Judaism, and we wound up with Christianity. Some of those kooky-kinks were freaks who liked to bust booties…and we let those kinks tell us, the regular folks, what God said. And according to the bible, Man on Man is a no-no, but they were making so much money at it,...well, you know. Anyway, if you read ‘Satan’ by Khalil Gibran in ‘Secrets of the Heart’, you’ll get the pix.

It's because clergy members are sinners too. It is wrong to be homosexual, just like it is wrong to be lustful for people of the opposite sex, no one sin is greater than another. People make out clergy members to be these perfect entities of society who never make mistakes. Well they're wrong to do so, all people sin, and sometimes the devil tempts clergy members more than others because people see it and blame the church for it, when the church itself has nothing to do with a priest, pastor, any other leader in the church losing his/her way. Since clergy aren't perfect, just like you and I are not perfect, hence Jesus came to forgive sin by his death and resurreciton.

I don’t particularly care about gay people anymore than I care about other people. Why should I, if we’re all equal? I think its deliciously ironic that there are so many gay priests. I’m not a fan of gays or the clergy, so I think it would be great if they just picked eachother off. I can’t stand how if you’re not ‘thuper thupportive’ of gays, you’re a homophobe. I’m not afraid of them, I just hate Rosie o’Donnel and I don’t want to hear about thier sex games on TV! just like I don’t pay any attention to what Church “holds my salvation”. being gay isn’t morally wrong, its a genetic defect, not a decision, and if you’re looking for corrupt morality of any kind, the Church would be the place to look anyway. If they weren’t so busy fondling small boys, I’m sure they’d be taking bribes or some other such “holiness in the name of Jeebus.”

Christians must say being gay is wrong because that is what the bible says. Anyone who approves of homosexuality and says that the homosexual can still live the lifestyle that he lives and can be saved according to God's Redemption plan is an apostate and utterly wrong. Gays are sinners just like any other kind of sinner. e.g. the atheist, the murderer, the liar, the thief, the unholy, slave traders,rebels, adulterers. Any one of them can be saved, IF THEY ONLY ADMIT THAT THEY'RE A SINNER AND ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST AS THEIR SAVIOUR AND THEN THEY WILL BE SAVED. The reason why homosexuals or liberal "christians" say that you can still be homosexual and still be saved, is that they follow a different religion. Their pride keeps them from recognizing the fact that they are a sinner. Just like the Atheist's pride that keeps him from believing there is a God. Any homosexual or transgender who wants to be saved needs to read the entire bible. Not just a verse or two. Here's an excerpt from a reliable bible teacher on christian radio on a sermon on hell: "Now brother, don't say a loving God will send you to hell; he's not; the thing that will send you to hell is: that you've got a sin and you don't want to admit it and the chances are you don't want to give it up. That's the problem with the human family, its self-will, a desire to do their way. And yet God has provided a way to come and anytime you want to make a turn, a loving God is there to save you."

many christians believe homosexuality is a choice, which it is not. so they believe if they become clergy they can ignore their tendencies, especially since they don't have to face their lack of attraction to women cuz priests are supposed to be celibate. it's pretty well-known that if you try to deny tendencies within yourself, they only become stronger in the end. so eventually they are found having realtionships with men anyway. many priests have been caught because they happen to also be pedophiles, however it should be made clear that is no way related to their homosexuality.

As it is with anything, when someone disagrees and blots out something that has been proven, one must come up with an opposite apologetic with the support from a document that ensures that. I say this in the kindness expected as one who, indeed, does know God personally. (It is not anyone's fault if they haven't been 'called' yet,) but then that's another topic. So..keeping with the thread, let us be intelligent and diplomatic. In other words, if you are specifically saying that Christians and their beliefs are wrong...prove that with your own habeas corpus. However, be careful, as you will need the bible knowledge and WHY it shows to be incorrect so that your defense can stand up. If you are saying they are hypocritical, then, prove IT as well.
