Politically Correct

It seems everyday I hear about equal opportunity, race-based scholarships, and special benefits for minority groups. What's your take? Have we gone too far with being politically correct? Is it reverse discrimination or is it compensation/restitution for past wrongs? I'm eager to hear what you guys think...

  • ehh

I don't think that any group of people should have anymore special benefits over another. Everyone wants to be treated equally and having all these handouts and special treatments just breeds resentment and is actually fodder for racism. I agree that its reverse discrimination, if you are going to offer scholarships and extra benefits, offer them to everyone. How about this, if there were a United White People College where it was strictly white people, would anyone consider that racist or just helping advance the white people that need help or are from a bad area and can't pay for college?

  • Should we be ashamed?

"How about this, if there were a United White People College where it was strictly white people, would anyone consider that racist or just helping advance the white people that need help or are from a bad area and can't pay for college?"

Well why not, sounds like a good idea to me. If people add negative conotations and just assume that the only qualifications are race, then what does equal opportunity mean, everyone has to struggle?-

I'm not against what you call "race-based scholarships, and special benefits for minority groups" But you make it sound like it's some twisted institution hell bent on claiming racial superiority. There's a difference between "handouts" and the actual scholarships- Handouts would be considered Universities giving pity points to minorities on an entrance exam, helping a dedicated student who just happens to be African American for example get through college wouldn't be a "handout". Giving thousands to any idiot with a voice and color in their skin would be a "handout", you can't just label off those kinds of scholarships as meaningless.

In my opinion these kinds of scholarships are created to give more chances, more opportunities, to all people. If it just so happens that there is a culture attached to it then why not, since when are our heritages something to hide? I never knew my culture was taboo.

If it bothers you so much why make the distiction in the first place, why suggest that we're different from eachother?

And what makes these kinds of scholarships so different than scholarships geared towards writers, or artists, or those made to help students who deserve the best education offered but can't pay the price?

  • show some backbone, white people

every day i hear nothing but liberal slackovists bashing white people. Al Sharpton blames white people for hurricane katrina. Louis farrakhan says that whites owe blacks "reparations" for the slave trade that ended nearly a century and a half ago. another black leader openly called for the extermination of all white people, and NOTHING is done about that, but you let a white person say anything, ANYTHING unpleasant about anyone black, even something as innocent as "I dont like rap music", and the slackovist thought-police is all over them like ugly on a warthog... "You can't say that! It's RACIST!!!"

Now the homosexuals are jumping on the bandwagon, pushing for more rights than anyone else has, and anyone who questions thier motives is a "Homophobe"

why do they do it? because we let them.

White people in this country are so pussy-whipped by liberal slackovists, that our balls shrivel up if anyone threatens to call us the dreaded R-word "RACIST!" we will kowtow to the meanest discriminations, give up any number of constitutional rights, give the shirts off our backs and bend over backwards to kiss ass, just so some welfare-cheat won't call us "racist".

    get a grip

it's just a word, folks. it can't hurt you unless you let it. So grow some cajones, and take back the dignity you deserve. and when the politically correct schoolyard bullies call you "racist" you call them what they are...Hypocritical, crybaby, SLACKOVISTS!

and for you straight folks out there, next time some GLAAD organizes one of their "gay pride" events, organize a "straight pride" parade. and if anyone tells you you can't, show them a copy of the US constitution, amendment 3 "the right of the people to peacably assemble", and do it anyway. and don't let them scare you with threats of a lawsuit. Make them sue you, and if you lose, appeal. FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHTS!

if any slackovists are reading this, I hope to God you are offended! I hope you are traumatized for life by this, you whiny-ass losers! NOWHERE in the constitution are you guaranteed an offense-free life, you snivelling snotbags, and you are not entitled to anything but air to breathe. Everything else has to be paid for by someone, so get a job, stop looking for excuses to sue people, and start paying for your share. This is one white man who's sick of getting stuck with the check.

if there are special scholarships for balck, hispanics, etc. then there should be scholarships for just whites. and as soon as people read that they point their finger at me and scream racist but how is it fair that people of other nationalities can get more money than whites can and it be called politically correct or it is because their people have suffered...don't whites deserve the same oppurtunities and if their are race based scholarships for everyone else there should be one for whites out of fairness...and please no one give me that b.s. that they have it harder than whites...there are white families out there who cannto pay for college for their child but still have to because the government feels they make to much but a black family in the exact same situation would get help...
