A lot of people seem to think they are qualified to tell me what God wants or what God says, or what God believes? My question is: How can I tell the difference between a person who genuinely knows what God wants and a person who is deluded or lying about it?

Biometric ID75% Voted for by TheDarknessVisible, ennoia, cosmosis.
God issues Prophet Club Biometric ID cards, with both RFID and anti-counterfeit technology to all true prophets. The next time you meet someone claiming to be God's Prophet demand to see their Prophet Club membership card.
Likewise... if an angel visits you, demand to see their ID and their greencard for that matter. Only southern baptist angels are authorized to practice angelicry within the United States. There are no papists allowed.

No one can tell you what God has in plan for your life except God. The only way someone can say "this is what God wants for you" is if they are getting it straight from the scriptures, and if they claim this to be the case, tell them to show you. If they can't, then you know they probably don't know what they are talking about. There are things in the Bible that God wants for all of us. John 3:16 is a fmiliar, but perfect example for this. It shows here that God wants everyone to become saved. Now, that doesn't mean that is going to happen, but that is what He wants for us. As far as the path your life is going to take, only God can tell you what he wants specifically. And the only way to find out what he wants is to pray and to listen. He will talk to you and show you things, but you must have faith that He will. As far as someone else telling you what to do with your life, if it doesn't feel right and it doesn't coincide with what you think God wants you to do, then don't listen to them. I've ran into a lot of people like this and it can be very frusterating.
