They don't work mathematically

If you write out either number (Or just think about it) google would end up with the one in the ten's place. So it would have to be followed by 99, or 102 zeroes. (To think of this more simply, it wouldn't be a real number unless the number of digits that follow it is a multiple of three)

Here are some other ways to write the eye-googling number: _ten thousand sexdecillion_ _ten duotrigintillion_ 10 _to the power_ 100 There's nothing wrong with the _maths_ of the googol (now because of the popular search engine _google_) although for a while there was nothing in the phyisical universe that could be described in terms of the google because it was estimated that there were only 10(power of)72 to 10(power of)87 particles in the known universe. _Wikipedia_ However, supercomputers eat googles for lunch, these days, and can perform functions; using, and those equating the value of the google. If you want mind boggling, (or is that _googgling?_)then try the googleplex out for size: That's ten to the power of ten to the power of 100. Looks friendly enough. But just some trivia: *a piece of paper with a googleplex written out on it could not be stuffed into the known universe.*

It doesn't make sense. Its like a trillion starting in a tens place. Ten trillion would end up in the hundred's place. It messes up things.

I have no idea what you're talking about Alis. Why is that a problem? It's not the "official number's name" like a hundred or billion or trillion. It's not like if slapped a one on the end instead of a zero it would be a "googolia-one" and so on and so forth. If you were to change any of the zeroes to any other number, it would no longer be a googol at all. If you were to change change 1,000,000 to 1,000,001, it would go from one-million to one-million-and-one. If were to change 10,000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000 into 10,000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 001 it would go from googol to a very large number which doesn't have any "official" name yet. Googol is more of a mathematical device than a numbers set.

a piece of paper with a googleplex written out on it could not be stuffed into the known universe. what does that mean exactly? if i write out a google plex on a piece of paper it wouldn't work? how do you stuff something into the universe?

A googolplex could not be written out in such form as 1,000,000,000...etc, because it is too great for the universe to contain it. It requires you to write it out like this 10^100^100. However if you want areally big number, research Grahams number. That is too great to even express using 3^^^^^3 etc.
