Absolutely not!Voted for by lordmonkey.
That is just about the least ethical thing you could possibly do!

if there is not other alternative.Voted for by NeferMaatNetjer.
if you find yourself in a situation where you cannot keep your pet, and have no family or friends to give him/her to, then selling is certainly more ethical than putting him/her to sleep.

I couldn't give my dog away let alone sell her. Sometimes people have no choice but to adopt out their dogs, like when they get aggressive toward a new baby or someone develops allergies. I agree that its better than killing the dog. If the dog is older and already bonded to you than it is very traumatic for them to be seperated from their owner.

its only an animalVoted for by eightball.
a dog (especially a puppy) will not remember you once it adapts to it's new enviroment. of course it is ethical.

Selling your dog is like selling a best friend, but like NeferMaatNetjer said, it would best to sell it than having it killed or putting it in a shelter.

YES, what if the owner cant care for itVoted for by kriz.
i think it is what if a person can no longer care for the dog or they owner dosent have the right houseing or cant pay for the animal to go to the vet?

Its just a dogVoted for by Johndeereisqueer.
Its just a dog. Theres nothing wrong with selling your dog. It probably doesnt even care or know whats going on.

the question should be....Voted for by trashed.
is it ethical to own animals?
the answer, of course, is no.
how can one living thing own another?
it's just a form of slavery, ignored because human animals are seen as superior. think- if a spaceship landed, full of superior beings, would you be happy to be tied up by them, tested on, farmed for food, your skin, etc, etc? of course not, so how can you justify doing it to animals just because we as a species are intellectually superior to them?

As opposed to giving him away?Voted for by david13.
The dog cannot understand a permanent departure from his master. YOU can understand, but he cannot. He will suffer from not seeing you. A cash transaction will make no difference to his loss. Perhaps if he could understand that you traded him in for 100 bones then maybe it's better that you put him to sleep so that his last memories are warm ones he remembers with you. He doesn't know death. It is the humane thing to do instead of seperating an established bond.
