Why is plural marriage taboo

New Testament writers seem to forbide plural marriaged, O.T. people practiced it, Mormons did opening in the 19th Century in Utah(now underground).

It's a taboo because people tend to be close minded to anything outside their personal experience, or anything they have had a bad experience with.

People like to believe that marriage should be sacred (this is what differintiates it from every other type of relationship) and that there should be a deep spiritual and mental connection between the spouses. People also don't like to believe that this kind of bond can exist between more than two people at a time.

I, personally, think that the former is BS, but a taboo isn't based on individual predjudices, but rather, the prejudices of the majority. The majority of people just don't feel comfortable with polygamy, and that emotion transcends all religion and history. Any scripture that is quoted or histoical event that is refered to in any argument is simply an attempt to validate one's own opinion, and is no more valid than me saying "if you mix red and blue you get purple because Barney said so." If I don't try it for myself, how the hell do I know what color they make? I don't. All I would have would be preconcieved notions, and the same goes for every other person, and every other argument.
