Can there ever be peace? Can there ever be ever-lasting peace? If you can't even find peace within yourself, how can there ever be a peaceful society? How could you achieve peace or lack of fighting, killing, war, murder, and death? To achieve that you'd have to remove your desires and passions. You'd have to remove free will and the need to hold onto your possessions and the ones you love. If peace were ever acheived could we appreciate it? Could we even comprehend it? Peace is fleeting. In this life nothing is forever, nothing is permanent, not even us. Peace is an ideal, war is reality.

I don't believe it to be human's nature to be peaceful. I really don't think that it is going to happen, despite the fact that it is something so many may want. I wish there could be peace in this world, but I'd gotten to the conclusion a long time ago that it is never going to happen. To find self-peace is the closest that we seem we are ever going to get. In reality: someone needs to get stepped on, while someone else gains all. To survive, we can't possible have peace. As much as I hate to say that, it's the way it just seems to be.

would you sacrifice your emotions for total peace?28% Voted for by DreamMusicButterfly, anorexicmonkey.
As individuals we are certain to create misunderstandings with each other. Peace could only truly come from unified thought, and with unified thought everyone would be the same(complete equality). If everyone was exactly alike then we wouldn't have the ability to choose, to reason, we would just know and accept; we wouldn't be "free". Without freedom we wouldn't have emotions. Can you enjoy peace without the ability to enjoy?
The best thing we can do as individuals is to simply treat each other as equals, allowing differences to not create negative emotions. We should live a life around morals. We may not see our effects change the world, but your effects should become apparent in the others you surround yourself around.

i think that it is utopian to believe that we can have age- long peace all over the world, for many reasons.the most important are the financial interests of the countries which will never let them accept the conditions for an age-long peace

True Peace
I can see the value in Scarlet's comment about human nature. Inherently, humans are designed to survive at all costs. The only real peace we, as conscious beings can obtain, is the peace within our minds. True peace, in every way, is unlike all previous experiences, nothing that went before and no past associations. The past slips away, along with anger and conflict and all that remains is the quietude of peace.March 11, 2006
