Yellowstone Volcano will soon erupt

Death To Us AllVoted for by xVowsareSpoken.
Robert Smith, a geologist at the University of Utah said, "When the volcano under Yellowstone Park erupts, it will cover most of the US in ash. Earth will be plunged into a perpetual winter that would last years. Some plant and animal species will disappear forever. Even humans could be pushed to the edge of extinction." No one wants to be clueless when a big disaster hits the planet. People should stop denying the possibility of an eruption, and give more attention to the super volcano that lies beneath Yellowstone Park.
Scientists have revealed that Yellowstone Park has been on a regular eruption cycle of 600,000 years. The last eruption was 640,000 years ago... so the next eruption is overdue. Before the last eruption, there were two more: One about 2 million years ago, then 1.2 million years ago. The force of the explosion would be thousands of times more powerful than that of Mount St. Helens, in Washington. Tremendous amounts of rock and ash will mix into the air, blocking the sun for months. The temperature around the globe will plummet to as low as 21 degrees. Yellowstone's volcano is a super volcano. Now, you might be asking what a super volcano exactly is. It differs from a regular volcano because this one has no peak. The magma is blocked from ever reaching the surface, so the pressure just builds up more and more. There will be a chain of earthquakes in Yellowstone Park that will crack the ground and unleash the sea of semi-molton rock. Robert Smith said, "There's just one problem, the volcano under yellowstone park doesn't look like a volcano... It's just too big." It is more than 30 square miles big to be exact. Drew Coleman, an assistant geology professor at the University of North Carolina said, "If something like that was cooking up right now we'd see the evidence, and we don't." But contrary to that, there is a handful of evidence to prove we will be experiencing another eruption sooner or later, most likely sooner. Something that has puzzled scientists, and is evidence to the boiling molton rock, is that the ground has already risen three feet since a few years ago. Robert Smith explains that the volcano is bulging upward as more molton rock gathers, increasing the pressure underground. There has been many contradictory statements from geologists who don't believe Yellowstone will erupt yet again, at least not big enough to be a global devestation. Drew Coleman said, "Volcanoes are more prone to chugging along, producing many small eruptions, rather than huge civilization-detroying eruptions." History of the volcano is evidence enough that it is powerful enough to affect the entire globe. But the evidence is that, when Yellowstone erupts, it won't just be that. Once a huge volcano of this proportion starts exploding, it will affect the entire system underneath the entire Western area, causing other huge earthquakes and the eruptions of multiple volcanoes from California to the state of Washington. The San Andreas fault might also buckle, causing most of California to be devestated. Another thing people don't believe is the ability of the ash to travel a great distance. During the May 18, 1980 explosion of Mount St. Helen's, it continuously disgorged ash for 9 hours afterward. The ash from that volcano was able to travel the globe within three weeks. Mount St. Helen's unleashed the equivalent of 500 Hiroshima atomic bombs, said scientists. Mount St. Helens is concidered to be a "baby volcano" compared to what's under Yellowstone. When the eruption does occur, there will be no way of escaping, and people will begin to panic as the ash mixes into the air, into the water supply, and into our own lungs, causing us to suffocate on our own bodies. The ash would be too heavy so roofs of buildings will collapse. The Super Volcano erupting will cause chains of other attacks that will end most of civilization.
The volcano eruption of Yellowstone Park will be a global devestation, and there is so much evidence to prove it all, yet people continue to ignore the signs. Nobody wants to be clueless when they hear the loudest explosion known to man, that is why people should stop denying the possibility of another eruption, and give more attention to the sea of molten-rock that boils beneath Yellowstone Park.

Still
We should still care whether it's in a thousand years or not. Would you really want to leave your children a world that will blow up as soon as we all die? What I can't help but wonder is if we can find some alternative fuel source for cars and take an oil drill and drill for magma, so as to vent some of it somewhere else. I'm no expert, but obviously something of the sort has to be done, or we'll have a lot to answer for.March 10, 2006

Boom there goes Yellowstone
As someone who was raised in and around Yellowstone I am fascinated by the Hollywood disaster approach to this topic. I am an alum from Montana State with two science degrees and know many geologists who have studied the region. First off the concept that Yellowstone is an ancient caldera or active volcanic area is NOT new but it is a new subject to use to mesmorize the masses with a scary 'real' story. I am in my late 40's and as a kid we were told about the lake being in the midst of an old volcano. Anyway the concept that Yellowstone is overdue or near another eruption because it goes off every 600k or so is simple non-sense. The hotspot has been 'moving' across that part of a N America for millions of years and only arrived in the Yellowstone area about 1.5 - 2 million years ago. the frequency that everyone is concerned about is based on 3 events with two intervals over 2 million years ... in other words there is no statistically reliable way to say that is the actual interval for eruptions. Finally, the 'geologic' activity being referenced to say its building is also non-sense. YNP is and always has been geologically active. There is on average a geyser explosion there once a year. Thousands of tremors occur weekly. Ground changes occur and always have occurred in the region (pre-settlement even). If you want Actual solid information on the region read 'Windows into the Earth', otherwise let the mass media morons continue to frighten you with a sky is falling simpleton story. Penn-Ultimately, there will be nothing anyone can do to stop Mother Nature should she decide to let loose. A mega volcano went off about 70k years ago in Indonesia and nearly caused the extinction of a small but emerging species at that time (Homo sapiens) we are but a blip in time and our age will come and pass like other ages in the history of the earth.
