If we can all do what we think is right because it makes us happy-does this qualify an adult having sexual relations with a child-when this adult truly believes that he's hurting no one and cannot deny his true inner feelings?

Emotions Don't Dictate MoralityVoted for by Catavader.
"If we can all do what we think is right because it makes us happy..." I don't see that this makes sense. I think that if someone discovers morality they will lead a happier life, but I don't think happiness of the moment leads to morality. A pedophile is probably not such a happy person if he or she acts on his or her urges. They might get pleasure in the moment, but that isn't the same as being happy. I'm not sure how to discover morality. There is some way to discern what it moral and immoral, I think, but I am not sure what to judge by. Still, there is no reason that the pleasure of the moment should dictate morality; rather, morality should lead to happiness or perhaps a sort of peace. Also, if expressing oneself comes at a great cost to oneself, then I think it is not okay because each person is a person who is equal to other persons. Causing any person harm is evil, even if it is not the greatest evil, and oneself is not an exception. In short, I agree that doing things at a cost to others is an evil, albeit a necesary one at times, but I disagree that there is any reason that what "makes us happy" could possibly lead to "what is right."

F**k Morality, Maturity is the important thingVoted for by ExpensiveThinker.
When it comes to controlling your emotions, morality just gives you stupid rules that are usually bad and won't help you. Instead, it comes down to maturity. You should be responsible for your own actions.
In my opinion, you can learn these things pretty quickly without too many mistakes, but you must learn them yourself. Like the 21 year old who drinks until they throw up, or the post-puberty adolecent who has sex with 4 people at once (and then feels ashamed). Somethings are better (and more fun) to learn on your own.
