How broken is America

I want to know how divided America is right now. How you think we got this way. What can be done to stop or change what has happened. I also want to know the obserations you might have made.

• Divided we are falling

  I have looked aroud at the people on the news and at my country. What I have seen makes me so sad. We seem to only come together in times of tragedy. September 11th, Hurricane Katrina, two major events that have forever changed our lives. Yet how come it is only in times like these that we come together? Right now we are so divided that we are falling to our doom. If anything we need to come together now more than ever. I only ask that you look around you. Because right now we are doomed to be eliminated within the next 50 years.

    I believe that it will be sooner than 50 years.My reason is that if you look in the papers and read the news you'd know that time is waisting.It is even professed in the bible that we really dont have a lot of time here.So while we are here, we do need to stick together and get the word out. That even in our most quiet hour we need to be prepared for the revolution.Not only when it is most needed like wandering's opinion stated.We should never allow our people to go without.Lets learn to fix our homeland together by supporting our local people.Helping them help themselves.And we should be fine with god on ourside

    What do you mean? America has always been divided and will always be divided. The fact that we're able to "come together" during crisis and tragedy only shows that overall we still care for each others well being (even though there are still many who don't care and try to take advantage of these situations).

    Even though America is divided by different ethnics it does not mean that we should be divided in spirit. We all live in the same country and if we want to truely suceed with anything we need to be the example. Truely we are not as divided as we think we are. If you cut each of us, do we not bleed red? Do we not all live in the same country? Have we not all seen the tragedy on t.v.? We may all be different, but in truth shouldn't that alone bring us together.

      I never even considered the possiblity of us being divided by our ethnicities. I was under the impression that while people may maintain their cultural identities, most of us accept one another as human beings. Where I am from it is quite common for inter-racial-cultural-ethnic relationships, including from my own experience. The differences I speak of are political and views on morality. Even on the founding of our country we were divided in issues such as slavery or how centralized the government should be, but only unified to overthrow Britain.

    if this is based on the news media then your info is wrong. News organizations are run by people, who in return, put their own opinions within their broadcasts. Right or wrong, has nothing to do with it at all, for it has always been like this and always will. I presume you have not been to every single state within the U.S. and spoken to at least half the people in those states? News outlets are a poor way to judge the state of affairs of anything. Most people outside of the U.S. judge the U.S. by what they see projected by the news media and I find that rather amusing. It totally amazes me how some people do not have the ability to add a little grain of salt to what they see and hear in the media.

    I don't trust the media. I usually dig around on internet news sites for the truth.
