Why deductive reasoning can provide better answers than democracy40% Voted for by DryIce808, Lady Writer, Constantine, Quinn the Eskimo.
Sometimes there is a right and a wrong answer. The educated knows the right answer and the uneducated simply form opinions. Since far more people are uneducated than educated, sometimes when an issue is voted on, wrong opinions are translated into policy while the truth remains widely unknown. I believe that some things should not be voted on. There are certain experts who know more information than others and their knowledge should be trusted more than the everyday persons. I know this may sound strange to a lot of you, considering most of been taught that Democratic solutions are always the best. The problem is, they are not always the best. Voting on something is not always the best solution. The correct solution sometimes is to conduct deductive reasoning.
When using deductive reasoning, one does not just pile on positive evidence, making their opinion, "more true". Using deductive reasoning one tries to falsify an already known hypothesis with scientific trials. This is something that needs to be done more in the U.S. Here in the U.S. people are being sent to prison based only on inductive reasoning. Sadly, this can never get to the truth. No matter how much positive evidence there is, if there is a piece of negative evidence to refute it, than the person is not necessarily guilty.

What is better then democracy?20% Voted for by edosdonkey, janstar.
Ahh, the old "tyranny of the minority" argument. So getting past the idealism, what system do you propose is better then democracy? I'd rather follow the law of the majority then an extremist such as Joseph Stalin.

I agree with you DryIce808 -- I reckon was upon a time when democracy was fresh and clean it was a very admirable thing. but now .. it just sucks. I'm not too sure what you mean by deductive reasoning however - but i agree with you, though I'm not American, there is a stereotype of americans being blind patriots, conservative and not bothering about voting. Though I think that we all need to think outside of the box, democracy isn't democracy any more, there's corruption and discrimination every where .. we need to stop eating the garbage shovelled into our mouths. how can our democracy be so uncontrovesial? are people too lazy? too complacent to rethink their government?

When Democracy is not the best policyVoted for by Screaming Chimera.
It isn't the best, nor will it ever will be. It introduces too much choas into the social / political machine fullstop.
I think any other current-day political theorys arn't the best either.
And i doubt untill we humans actully become almost selfless (something which capitilism does not help) we will never have a good policitcal system. unless we all become borg of course.
