Free Choice54% Voted for by Sharcu, netnerd183, Lomhar, ThisEndUp, michelleperez25. (6 total)
God isn't the one who makes someone go other there and kill someone else. Someone chose to go buy a gun and kill that person. God had nothing to do with it. Man made the choice to do violence and all of that.

Free will, and the implications thereof18% Voted for by Dark-Scorpion, Makessenseright.
God neither makes war, nor does He stop it. What men do in His name, can not be attributed to Him, as I can do anything under the pretense that God told me to do it. It does not make it so. Also, human leaders can not be compared to God, or ever be in the same league. They are humans. Humans do bad things, humans make mistakes. It is the escence of free will.

every nonhuman action that involves violence, mostly natural disasters, come to an end. God creates violence and God takes away violence. It is the inevitability of the death that eventually destroys the violence of human beings. Indeed we have free will and are able to choose to create violence or not to, but is God who puts these choices in front of us, and thusly creates violence.

these things must come to passVoted for by NeferMaatNetjer.
according to the Bible, it's going to to get a lot worse before it gets better. there will be war and rumors of wars, there will be plagues, earthquakes, famines, and all kinds of death and destruction. The great tribulation is upon us, or soon will be, but the good news is this; Christ himself will come and reclaim the earth, and peace will reign forever after that.

Who ever said....God and HitlerVoted for by swonderfulgirl.
Who ever says war is all about free will and not god, is stupid. I cant think of a war or form of terroism that isnt based on a religious idea. And even wars faught not for religion but under dictatorship, isnt that the same kind of thing. A god, a leader, rules, a higher being who must apparently be obeyed for the better good. Dont get be wrong im not putting God and Hitler(Nazi's) into the same catergory but the effect each one has on their "people" play a strikin resembalence. dont ya think?

Correct
I totally agree with you. Humans chose to sin, so humans must suffer the consquences of their actions. God doesn't makes us do harm to anyone.January 31, 2006

What about the hurricanes?
So who's in charge of percieved 'Acts of God' so to speak; earthquakes, tsunamis, probable spelling mistakes and hurricanes? Why do these things, presumably controlled by God get away with killing millions of innocent people? Or does God just... *"move in mysterious ways*"...? (and if so... why??)January 31, 2006

That is an answer to the wrong Question
the question was 'why doesn't God Stop all the violence?' But the question you answered was 'Why is there violence?' Just thought you'd like to know that.March 3, 2006

G-d, if He exists, is either not omnipotent or he is not entirely just
I think that G-d is more like the Shiva of the Hindus. Always very creative, and sometimes very destructive. Christians love to defend their G-d, or their idea of G-d. But they are also the first ones to wage war on other cultures and nations. If you examine the culture of their military, you will find it deeply hypocritical. The true god of the military is Mars, the god of War.Please register or login to comment! It's totally free
