Vampires, Real?, or Myth?

This may sound hard to believe boys and girls but demons and vampires live among us. And I don not talk about vampire wannabes... I'm talking about the real vampires that rule the night along with others. Be wise about your hunting... remember... The greatest trick the Devil did was to make human believe he did not exist...

  • Myth

There are people who drink blood but the classic ‘vampire’ is a myth. Archetypes are created because the human imagination is only so good. People put together images of things they have seen in different combinations that aren’t real. So, basically it’s just because the human mind is limited somewhat in imagination. Most fairytales also have equivalents, as do other mythological creatures.

    i think vampires are sexy.

but seriously, most myths are based on a little truth, there are people who like blood or are sensitive to light or garlic. but the immortal thing, no.

  • Sure

People who drink blood, feed off energy, etc. I don’t think they’re vampires in the sense that vampires are known, but if they believe that they are then for all intensive purposes, they are. It’s a belief like anything else. My personal take on the whole thing is that if someone wants to walk around and call themselves a vampire, then fine. Good on them. I really don’t care. Just don’t come biting my neck haha.

I think the theory of Vampires is just as believable as any religion. In fact it ties in with religion, althought im agnostic, i do beleive in the possibility of vampires

  • of course

every myth has basis upon it, i’m sure there were cases a long time ago of people being drained of blood with two bite marks on their neck or leg or somewhere on them that were teeth apart and they started thinking about people doing it and they arrested someone who admitted to it and that started vampires, there is a disease that is like that you know, it makes you like a vampire and you have to drink someones blood…just thought you would like to know that!

  • Disease-related Vampirism

I can’t say yes or no to vampires existing, but I’ve heard of several diseases that account for much of ‘vampiric’ bahvior. I don’t know the names of these disease, though.

One such illness causes the person’s skin to be ghostly pale, something vampires are said to have.

Another causes the person’s ‘waking schedule’ to switch, making them be more active at night and less so in the day.

One disease makes it so the person does not have enough hemoglobyn(sp) in their blood. Supposedly, these aflicted people would drink the blood of others to get the necessary hemoglobyn, but I’m not sure if that reaction is true.

  • Depends on the definition of the word "Vampire"...

There are several kinds of vampires, most of them described above: psychic vampires, sanguinists, vampirists, people with a medical condition.

However, if you define “vampire” as an undead creature that has risen from the grave and has come to slaughter people in the night… I don’t know. There have been some spottings when it comes to grave breakouts, but no one has any concrete proof that this is the actual truth. There are no Spikes, Angels and Buffys, that’s for sure.

  • Yes and no

Yes there are “vampires” that drink animal blood such as cow blood …but true vampires that drink the blood of a human being….no. I know a few people that drink blood and consider themselves vampires…the vampires that many of us have come to know though(the ones that feed off humans) are, what i believe, non-existent.

  • The Real Vampire

There are real Vampires. Not the fanged, mortal enemy of the sun kind we read about in books and folk lore. There is a disease, I can’t remember what it is called, but it causes lacerations on the face. The only way to keep the infected person looking normal is to drink human blood; there is some vitamin or something in our blood that helps them. If they don’t drink human blood they look like full fledged monsters. So, yes, there are real vampires. JOY

  • hmmmm

Truth is I love vampires, I have all the ‘scrolls’ I could get my hands on, the actual thought of it is great. BUT I do believe it is all myth. yes there are cutls out there that mimic vampires, or how it’s originally spelled ‘vampyres’, but I don’t think they exist. What is fascinating, is that this mythological creature has everything to make it real. It’s own religion, history and language. I know I might sound a bit insane, but I think it’s fascinating

  • Uhm... Strict definition... Well...

Porphoria, as well as heightened anemia, and others have been the blame-child of this Stokeresque and now Rice-esque fantasy-child. The fantasy/reality is up to everyone just as a system of belief is. There are various mythos the world over that could account for the ‘legend’ whether in traditional form or with an artist’s bias. It’s time to find a new obsession… if there are vampires, they are tired… oh so tired … of the fact that they are now the ‘popular’ monster of the last 200 years. I have to admit though, the Windigo would have to be my favorite interpretation/myth.

  • Of course it is a myth

Of course It is a myth. And the myth is not about drinking blood - the vampire blood drinking is a later adiction of the myth, most due the literature than anything (Yes, Most vampire things described here are created by literature. We knew the author, we have the register; it was not a matter of hiding it).In fact most those "real vampires" have no idea what the myth is really (and undead who refuses to rest due some undoing and still try to keep his previous life bringing negative energies to the living) and just copy the victorian vampire or anne rice third rate myth (which are mostly stolen from other myths, the misterious, dark, seductive stranger is stuff from faeries, not vampires. But XX century movies changed it)

  • vampires some fact some myth

I believe "vampires" could have exstisted at one time. There need to drink blood could have been because of a genetic malfunction a religious practice or simple to gain some strength or tie to their victims. I do think that perhaps some of them might have had an unexplained power. like physics. I believe for years stories about vampires have spread and some facts have changed but has we have learned from history every great story had a beginning and often that beginning was based on facts and through years of retelling the story was altered so much the original story is very watered. look at the Trojan war. a myth for many hundred years and then found to have really existed. the some applies to Pompeii. I believe this same philosophy applies to vampires.

  • Either Way

I think it's most probable that the creature we think of when we hear Vampire, is a myth that has been created over time, adding many aspects together. I know that there is a disease where one is "allergic" to sunlight, and when they are exposed, their skin may boil. And of course there will be people allergic to garlic. I don't know of any medical reasons for drinking blood, but I'm sure there are people who do it. As well as this being a possibility, though, that commonly known idea could be true.. or a variation could be. There is no proof against it, so who are we to say that it's not true? I, myself have no true bias either way, though I'd love for the common legend to be true, it's so interesting.

  • Kinda sorta

Yeah, there are people that drink blood…and yes…some drink the blood of people. But I think the truth is that the legendary “garlic hating, daylight fearing” vampires are mostly myth. Sure, they’re based on some truth…like every legend is…but it’s just a tall-tale.
