Do you know who you are?Voted for by mynameishoneybee.
Ever wonder what it is that compells us to feel the need to find out exactly who we are, and then mold ourselves to conform into those who bear a substantial amount of influence upon our lives? Well, maybe not, but I know I do. What is it that keeps us from showing others who we are, masquerading around as though we are someone completely different than who we are?Holding back the things you want to tell people the most, only to cave into pretending as though you are just one more perfect person in your own little perfect world. Finding that you not only connect with those who are not "socially acceptable", but hiding the truth from others whom you wish to please. Why can't society just accept with people the way they are, understand that no one is the same, and attempt to get to know those who aren't the prototype personality. I guess I just don't understand why people want everyone to be the same, don't they want to truly know people the way they really are? It seems as though people in this world would rather get along with someone who is hiding their true self rather than dislike someone with a completely different personality. It frustrates me what people are turning into these days.

"you" change with every passing situation and every learning experience. it's impossible to say "i know exactly who i am" because as a person, you adapt and change according to your enviornment.
Blame the human ego for not accepting foreign concepts. NOt everyone wants to be the "same." I remember that feeling in like high school, but it kinda grew out of that mode of thinking because in the end i really didn't care anymore. i was more focused on creating and establishing a good future for myself. In the end a lot of people really don't care much WHO you are. by instinct you end up focusing on yourself mainly.
I think what compells us to find who we are is the desperate need of concrete fact and concrete anything in a world where things are constantly changing. beliefs, thoughts, friends, etc. is that necessarily a bad thing? I don't think so. It's not necessarily that we conform to those who bear a substantial influence in our lives. Conform seems to be a nasty word.. As a person you are heavily influenced by those who aided in raising you. Be it parent, sister, extended family, etc.
We can't say we "conform" to them because they have substantial influence in our lives. Perhaps in a sense we might, but i don't think i would choose the word "conform." It's just influence.

Good subject
One I ask constantly. I've debated with myself on this because I have been taught and now can't escape from holding back which is the same as pretending. Because of a number of society called 'faults', I have been somewhat seperated from experiencing as myself. Now, I am confused on who I really am. I can assume, but truely, I have pretended too long. I have been shy, but I am full of voice and opinion. I love to sing, but fear of pride causes me to shy from the acceptance of my ability. I should embrace all my talents as well as I have been forced to embrace my so called faults, but I battle so that I do not lose myself in pride or egotism, or at least conceit. I know I am more than I have become. Right here I will list what I believe I truely am. o.k. guess I can't, it might be labeled as conceit. ha Wish I could be me!Please register or login to comment!
