statiatory rape.........are there extenuating sercomstaces

  • no. sex demands responsibility

I do not believe sexual relations with someone under the legal age is responsible behavior for either party. consentual sex implies acceptance of the risks of pregnancy, social diseases, and emotional commitment, and if neither you nor the other person is ready to accept what the consequences, you should both abstain. There are far too many 16 year old (or perhaps younger) single mothers who still live with their parents, and are trying to juggle school, work, and baby care all at the same time. That's no way to have to live.

  • not if they're in school

i think if a guy/girl is 18 and still in high school, they shouldn't be charged sith satitory rape. they may be leagally adults but, because they're still in school, their minds have not matured enough to be really be consired an adult. they're still in school, they're just kids!

  • maybe you could be more specific?

First off it's statutory, and circumstances.

Yes there are. For instance if a girl is 15 and the guy she consents to have sex with is 16, I would not see it as a problem worth prosecuting even though legally he would be guilty of rape. There are situations where the age difference is similarly minute and the same act would be morally considered as rape. This would be for girls who are mentally handicapped. No I don't mean girls with Down's Syndrome or anything like that, but a girl who has been violated during her development in any way which would cause her to have interest in promiscuous behavior should not be touched, as her ability to make any decision has been compromised. I'm sure there are more, but those are the most obvious to me.

  • Very true NeferMaatnetjer

But the ultimate answer is this: All sex outside of Marriage has consequences. Which means; it is all wrong and all sinful. No such thing as an extinuating circumstance for this.
