we need a set of rules (not just the christian ones)that are basic guidelines (i mean BASIC, dont kill fellows, love your neighbour...) but we also need situational ethics, without them we wouldnt be able to make those instantaneous decisions. so it is really a balance of the two.

Ethics, all the way. I don't know why but Christian laws don't appeal to me much.
