Because it's when we're awake that we're actually dreaming40% Voted for by blackangel--, Red Death.
So many words can explain what we are: life, existence, breath, movement, thoughts, feelings…. So many words can explain how we are: suffering, pain, humiliation, sadness, spite, malice, cry, tears…. All these words are hiding inside of us and act on us sometimes without our knowledge. They are the ones who allow us to say that we’re alive, and what word is it… alive! Do we really exist or are we living an illusion? An illusion that might become a reality as we take our final breath, an illusion that we believe is real, an illusion that we simply call “life”. The truth is, it’s in a totally different world that this life, this existence really lies. It’s in that other world that we, body and soul, exist. A world appreciated by so many people saying that it is where all our impulses lie, it’s where all our intentions are revealed. It’s in our dreams that we actually live, or what we are used to call dreams. Because everything in us is false, everything is the other way round! For it’s what we call “reality” that’s unreal and it’s what we call “dream” that’s actually the reality. In this instant, I’m not actually writing, I’m in a dream! and when I don’t have the conscious I have right now, that’s when I’ll be in reality. This dream in which I’m diving in, passes so slowly and so, in the moment I die - a moment so quick - I’ll wake up and start a whole new life, adding up all my dreams, reliving them, but this time, I’m living in the true reality, I’m in the real life, and I’m self-conscious of my existence.
Too complicated? … maybe.

Prelude to a DreamVoted for by TurtleSensei.
All a dream? Hmm...that actually does make sense, but only in the sense that we're all just one person's dream. We're not all dreaming, it's one person, re-living their favorite soap opera day in and day out, we're all imaginary characters in some little dieing girl's mind. Let's call her Gaia, for lack of a better name ok? And let's say that Gaia is only about 10-ish and dealing with a crippling disease, let's say Cancer? So, in order for her to cope, she has dreamt us, the human race into being, and we are merely the embodiment of her sickness of the virus that is killing her. How's that for an opinion eh?

if life was a dream I don't really think there would be war and AIDs and things like that going on. This would be what I would consider a nightmare.

Dreams: Life without LimitationsVoted for by bartbarbar.
If dreams are really our lives, then I would be overcome with ecstacy. Life would no longer be filled with limits and expectations. What if the life we lead in reality were just a side note to the possibilites that are contained within what we know to be our dreams? What i mean is, in many cultures, dreams are the way that people learn to live, accepting dreams as warnings or signs or even oportunities to use in everyday life. So, in these cultures, dreams are actually a way of life. Without dreams, where would they be? In a sense, everyone has had a dream of some sort where they really wanted to do something or they imagined going beyond what someone else has done, thus everyone hads tried a little harder for what they wanted. I believe our dreams are our lives and that people need to beleive that dreams are real. IF not, goals and hopes would deminish. Faith would be just another word that everyone puts aside as pretty but irrelevant. Dreams are what makes us who we are. Of course we're living in a dream.
